     CRITERIA / ELIGIBILITY

    • Only one scholarship will be awarded per applicant
    • Applicants must be of African American descent (male or female)
    • Applicants must be high school seniors who attend a high school within an eligible school district and/or reside within the DST Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Service Area
    • Provide (1) one non-family reference
    • Have a high school official (i.e. high school counselor, teacher, administrator, or coach) complete the electronic high school rating form linked in the application below)
    • Submit an essay (500 words or less)
    • Provide a 90-second personal video statement

     

    Submission Deadline is March 1, 2026 at 11:59 P.M.

    SCHOLARSHIPS

    Please select the scholarship award(s) you are applying for below

    Scholastic Achievement Award 

    • Requires a GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 scale; 4.0/5.0 scale; or 5.0/6.0 scale 

    Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math (STEAM) Award

    • Requires an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 scale; 4.0/5.0 scale; or 5.0/6.0 scale
    • Four(4) years of science, math, art, or technology courses (computer programming/computer networking) with a GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale; 4.5/5.0 scale; or 5.5/6.0 scale in those courses
    • A plan to major in an area of STEAM in college 

    Excellence in Service Award

    • Requires a GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 scale; 3.5/5.0 scale; or 4.5/6.0 scale
    • Demonstrates strong leadership ability as well as community service 

    DST Student Fellowship Award*

    • Requires a GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 scale; 3.5/5.0 scale; or 4.5/6.0 scale
    • This is a need-based award (family income may not exceed $40,000 annually) Include a brief statement about the applicant's need in the required essay 

     *PLEASE NOTE: A copy of the parents' W-2 from the previous year (2025) is REQUIRED for income verification
