Conference Topic: Collective Grief - Understanding Shared Loss and Trauma in a Changing World
Across our nation, communities are navigating profound and ongoing collective grief—an emotional weight shaped not only by shared tragedies but also by the deeply personal experience of death‑related loss. Events such as mass violence, including ones in our own state of Minnesota, natural disasters, global conflict, political division, and the lingering impacts of the pandemic reverberate through our collective sense of safety and belonging. These experiences leave a lasting imprint on individuals and communities, often intensifying the grief journeys of those already mourning the death of someone they love.
As the focus for this year’s All Things Grief Conference, we would like each presentation to explore the nature of collective grief and offer approaches for recognizing and responding to its influence in our clinical and professional work.
Proposal Requirements (Please review fully before submitting):
- All presentations should be planned for 60 minutes. Those chosen to present in-person should plan for for 5-10 minutes at the conclusion of your presentation for questions.
- Attendees work in professional roles with grieving clients (including but not limited to: counselors, marriage and family therapists, nurses, social workers, funeral directors, and educators.) Researched-based presentations geared towards professional education will be given priority in the selection process.
- If chosen, your presentation will be placed in either our in-person or virtual track. While we wish we could include every presentation in-person, the number of amazing abstracts we receive cannot make that possible. Therefore, we ask that if you are unable to present virtually, that you do not submit an abstract.
- Virtual presentations are not recorded live. If chosen, presenters can record and submit at any time before the conference.
- Virtual presentations are made available to all attendees starting within a few weeks post-conference until the end of the year and can be watched and re-watched several times.
- To best cater to our attendee’s professional development needs, we ask that presentations are limited to one or two speakers. We unfortunately cannot accommodate panel-style breakout presentations.
- As a sincere thank you for your expertise and time, all chosen breakout presenters will receive complimentary conference registration, meals, and parking! Breakout presenters will not receive additional compensation.
