    Please read the following before starting your application:

    Note:

    • Your application can only be made via this online form. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.
    • Address each item and keep to the word limits, where specified. 
    • You will be requested to include the name and contact details of two referees. Referees must be independent of the project. 
    • You will be asked to attach a brief 2-page Curriculum Vitae (CV), and a proposed budget (sample budget template included in the Guidelines). 
    • All uploaded documents must be PDFs and images as PNG or JPEG files. 
    • Your full name must be listed and visible on every item uploaded.
    • Uploaded documents and images must have the specified filename format of YEAR_Program_DocumentType_SurnameFirstInitial.

    e.g.:

    Once submitted, you will receive an emailed confirmation and copy of your submission. Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00PM on Monday, 22 June 2026.

  • Do you identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent/origin? If yes, your application will also be reviewed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Review Panel.
  • Is your project primarily focused on the health and wellbeing of older Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples? If 'Yes', your application will also be reviewed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Review Panel.
  • 2. Eligibility

    This grant is only available to early career researchers (not practitioners), studying across the multidisciplinary field of ageing, with no more than five years’ full time equivalent experience post-highest qualification, considering career interruption.

    Please refer to the 2026 Hal Kendig Research Development Program Application Guidelines and the 2026 Research Trust FAQs (on the Research Trust website) for more details regarding this requirement and examples of acceptable career disruptions.

    The grant offers up to $25,000 (inclusive of GST) for the project. Refer to the 2026 Hal Kendig RDP Guidelines for the items that may be included in your budget. 

    NOTE: Funding will be paid directly to your work or research institution upon receipt of an official invoice.
