    Welcome to the Vigilant Torch initial application for academic year 2026-2027 Please answer the following questions. Once your initial application is submitted, you will receive an email with further instructions. This is step 1 of 2, you must complete step 2 for a complete application. Complete applications are due by March 16th, 2026 at 11:59PM ET.

  • Eligibility

    The following questions are required to determine applicant eligibility. The applicant must meet these requirements, or the applicant must be the dependent or a grandchild of a sponsor who meets these requirements.
  • Recommendation:

    If you are a dependent, please have your sponsor with you when you answer the questions below to ensure we get accurate information that we need to determine your eligibility.
  • Eligibility requirements for currently assigned Active Duty Service Members (includes activated Guard and Reserve members)

    Service members who are currently assigned must register with VTF at no cost. To register with VTF, please contact membership@vigilant-torch.org. The purpose of registration is for vetting and communications.
  • Eligibility requirements for all Veterans (FUMs)

    Must be members in good standing, which means they registered with VTF to confirm eligiblity for support from the foundation. Please contact membership@vigilant-torch.org to apply.
  • Eligibility requirements for DoD Civilians

    DoD Civilians must be currently assigned to one of our supported units (as of January 15th, 2026). If the DoD Civilian is a FUM, see rule above for FUMs. DoD Civilians must register with VTF for vetting and communications. Please contact membership@vigiltant-torch.org to apply.

    We require that you create a unique application code. The reason we do this is because reviewers will not be able to see who they are reviewing to remove any potential bias. After you create this code, write it down because you will need it in future steps, and you must include this code on any documents that you upload.
