UMB Sharia Course 2026
Introduction
UMB has produced a structured programme which focuses on educating Muslims about the fundamental aspects of their religion.
This unique programme contains a robust curriculum rooted in the study of classical Islamic sciences, such as:
- Quranic Studies
- Terminology of Hadith,
- Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh)
- Foundations of Dawah
- Creed (Aqeedah)
- Tarbiyyah and other vital topics.
The course’s emphasis extends beyond intellectual growth to encompass spiritual development, character building and societal/ communal contributions to ensure the knowledge gained by the student does not just benefit him/herself but indeed, his/her entire community.
Students benefit from access to learned and dedicated instructors and scholars who are committed to continuing the chain of knowledge and focused on the nurturing and building of well-rounded, intellectually proficient and religiously sound individuals.
Course Outline
• Cost: $350 Per Trimester
• Duration: 3 Trimesters totalling 36 weeks in total starting from Tuesday 16th June until June 2027
• Delivery: Strictly in-person at the UMB Masjid: 8 Blackwood road, Logan central QLD
• Frequency: 2 classes per week (Tuesday & Wednesday) from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
• Language: English (with Arabic terminology introduced gradually)
• Assessment: Quizzes, short written assignments, oral presentations, and
participation in da‘wah workshops.
• Course material: Students will be provided with textbooks and supplementary
material for each term, based on the subjects they will be taking. Printing fees
is paid by the students and it is theirs to keep and benefit from beyond the course.
• Certification: Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion in Tā’hīl al-Dā‘iyah – Preparation of the Caller to Allah.
Key Skills & Outcomes
By the end of the Preparation of the Caller to Allah Programme, students will:
1. Have sound understanding of the essential Islamic sciences — Fiqh, ʿAqeedah, Hadith, Qur’an, and Dawah — and how they complement one another..
2. Gain the ability to call to the religion of Allah, upon insight and knowledge
3. Acquire practical dawah skills, including public speaking, sermon preparation, and engaging with Muslims and non-Muslims effectively and wisely.
4. Strengthen personal character, embodying sincerity, humility, and wisdom — the key traits of a true dā‘iyah.
5. Contribute positively to their communities through teaching, outreach, and spiritual guidance.
Expectations
1.Commitment: Students are expected to attend all sessions in person and complete assigned readings or assessments. Students are also expected to take notes during the explanation.
2. Adab (Etiquette): Proper manners with teachers, peers, and knowledge itself will be emphasised throughout the course.
3. Application: Students should strive to implement the knowledge they gain in their own lives before calling others to it.
4. Consultation: Students will have regular opportunities to seek advice and mentorship from instructors regarding personal and da‘wah-related matters.
