Applicant Instructions/Guidelines

• This stipend is to be used to support your own salary while you conduct clinical or laboratory research over a 12-month period in a host department and country outside your own department and country.
• You should not apply if you are already, or have previously been, at the host institution.
• Applications close on 30 April 2026.
• You are required to disclose any additional funding requests that have been applied for or granted for this project.
• Receiving additional funding will not preclude you from receiving the Kenneth Warren Fellowship.
• It is expected that you will be able to travel to the host institution within six months of being awarded the grant.
• You and your mentor must be current 2026 members of the IHPBA at the time of application and for the duration of the Fellowship.
• You may apply for IHPBA membership at the time of application; however, your host mentor must have been an active IHPBA member for a minimum of one year prior to the application. If you would like to apply for IHPBA membership, please visit:

• The host mentor must not have served as a Kenneth Warren Mentor within the past 12 months.
• The 2026/2027 Kenneth Warren Fellowships will be awarded on 1 July 2026.
• If you are selected, you must notify IHPBA Management of your acceptance or refusal of the award by 13 July 2026.

The host mentor must have been an active IHPBA member for at least one year immediately prior to the application and not mentored a Kenneth Warren Fellow in the past 12 months. Sorry applicants who are already based at the host institution are not eligible to apply.

In your cover letter you are encouraged to share:

• Academic distinction or awards you have received
• Your research experience, including your role(s) in previous projects
• Your most significant publications or conference publications presentations; and
• Any experiences that have uniquely shaped your perspective or approach to research.

Your Research Proposal should include the following:

• Title of proposed research project
• Abstract (250 words maximum)
• Research Question. Clearly state the research question or hypothesis that your project will address
• Specific aims and objectives: Outline the goals of your project
• Signfiicance. Explain why this research is important and how it contributes to the field
• Methods and Feasibility. Provide an overview of the research methods, timeline and feasibility; and

should not exceed one page.

• This stipend is to be used to support the recipient's own salary in conducting clinical or laboratory research over 12 months in a host department and country outside the applicant's own department and country.
• Indirect costs or overheads should not be included in the project budget and will not be covered by the Kenneth Warren Fellowship.
• The Kenneth Warren Fellowship Stipend will be paid to the Fellow direct to support their salary while working on the Research Project.
• The host institution will bear any other costs relating to the research project. 

Mentor letter of support should include the following:

• Mentor's expertise. Describe relevant experience and qualifications to support the applicant's research
• Mentorship Experience. Describe your experience mentoring others, including outcomes of your mentees.
• Planned role. Describe your role in the applicant's project and how you will provide guidance.
• Commitment. Specify the frequency of meetings and resources you will provide to the applicant. (Please note that host institutions are expected to cover the research costs associated with the subject proposal.)
