Scholarship Description:
The Jared P. Stene Student Leadership Scholarship honors the legacy of Jared Paul Stene, a Minnesota State student leader and passionate advocate for public higher education. Jared’s leadership and commitment to student advocacy left a lasting impact on his peers and the broader student movement. He passed away in November 2007 at the age of 22 due to complications from Wilson’s disease, and this scholarship was created by Students United to recognize and carry forward the values he embodied.

The scholarship awards $2,000 to Minnesota State students who demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to student advocacy and public higher education.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Jared P. Stene Student Leadership Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an undergraduate student at a Minnesota State university or college
- Have completed at least 24 credits by the end of the current academic year
- Plan to enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at a Minnesota State school for the upcoming academic year
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
