    Peoples Gospel Church is joyfully preparing for our Summer Camp 2026! This carefully planned program will provide meaningful coaching and training for young people who are passionate about investing in younger lives.

    Our vision:

    1. Equip Grade 8 and above youth to grow as capable, Christ‑centered leaders who can impact younger children with love and care.

    2. Build up children and youth spiritually through a fun, Bible‑based camp led by dedicated Christian youth and young adults who serve as mentors.
    “Let the little children come to Jesus and experience His love through us.”

    3. Reach out to youth in Grades 6–8 by offering a life‑changing, welcoming, and supportive camp. Through fellowship with Christ‑centered young people, they will discover their value in Christ, build a strong spiritual foundation, and form lasting friendships as they grow.

    Qualifications

    • You will serve as part of the team leadership under the Community Project Director.
    • This leadership team mentors and shapes younger Camp Counselors and Counselors‑in‑Training (CITs) through the children’s summer camp.
      The role is busy and requires strong commitment, but it is deeply rewarding.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • A mature Christian with an authentic and vibrant relationship with God, attending church regularly and is active in ministry work.

    • Proven with minimum 1 year experience as a Camp Coordinator (or similar level and experience) with excellent references by previous camp supervisors  

    • Proven ministry experience in leading children and young people

    • Demonstrates maturing character of enthusiasm, politeness and cooperation

    • minimum post-secondary age at the start of project, college & university, and must be age 30 years old or younger (subject to Canada government CSJ application criteria)

    • Enjoy being with children and youth, patient and be able to serve as a positive role model and mentor

    • Must abide to Plan to Protect® training, prevention and protocol for a safe and zero tolerance to bully and abuse environment

    •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • A strong team player that demonstrates good relationships to team members of different age in existing ministry

    • Ability to set work priorities, good time management, organized habits and work-time flexibility.

    • Communicating tools with visual arts and using social media by designing flyers, posters, short video clips for promotion and communicating purposes

    • Excellent interpersonal skills (able to prevent and handle conflicts or undesirable situation)

    • Mandatory Police Vulnerable Sector Check clearance prior to commencement of the employment

    • A valid CPR level C (within 2 years at beginning of start date), Emergency or Standard First aid certificate


    Reporting to:

    Community Programs Director & Family Pastor of PGC  
    During the summer project period, you will all be reporting to the Community Programs Director.   Together with the Director, the whole team will be reporting to the Family Pastor.

    Job Summary for Youth Development Coordinator:

    • As a Christian leader who has a passion to build up the next generation, you will be directed under PGC pastors and children/youth committee to learn and become mature through leading and outreaching to children and youth in summer months.
    • You will be actively interviewing youth leaders who apply as volunteers in children and youth development camps
       

    Work Term

    Dates: May 26 – Aug 11, 2026  

    • Full‑time commitment. Expect 40 hours per week.
    • No partial weeks, days, or vacation allowed during the work term.
    • During the job period, you are expected to join PGC Sunday services and post worship ministries so that you can fully connect and serve the community.
       

    May 26th - June 19th (4 Full weeks)  

    • Together with the Community Project Director, you will be under direct mentorship of PGC pastors in your own spiritual growth as well the skills mentioned above. They will teach you to create and assist in various pastoral ministries where you will be coached to study, plan, to develop and to lead.  This quality work will help you to reach out to the younger youths and help them grow in the community.  
    • You will be assisting in the planning and leading of weekly youth programs with youth-aged leaders. Opportunities will be given for the individual to lead sports nights, public outings, and to teach Bible lessons in the context of a youth audience. Through participating and shadowing in visitations (where appropriate), this person will also observe the personal caring side of pastoral ministry.
    • Sample Weekly time: Mainly work from home and 1 day reading and Word ministry, 1.5 day VBS planning and admin, 1.5 day youth week planning and admin, 1 day PGC ministry visit/follow-up follow-up, interviewing volunteers, getting familiar with campers
    • Weekly in person team meeting on Thursday morning mentoring and training with all pastors and the Community Project Director

    June 22-June 26 (1 week)

    ALL CAMP PLANNING and Job assignments for all team members MUST BE DONE THIS WEEK, FOR Counselors & CITs to implement next week


    June 29-July 10 

    During these two weeks, the entire team—including all Counselors and Counselors‑in‑Training—will work together to prepare for summer camp.

    • Schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at MCBC. After dismissal, additional time will be spent on group preparation and evening communication.
    • Commitment: Full 40‑hour work week
    • Focus: Planning and delivering a dynamic, fun‑filled, leadership‑building camp experience for children and youth.
    • Responsibilities: Assist the PGC Community Programs Director in overseeing and organizing the summer camp. This includes:
      • Training and equipping camp counselors
      • Preparing materials and activities
      • Organizing outings and camp logistics

     

    Camp Weeks: July 13 – Aug 6 

    Work hours: 8:00am - 5:10pm

    • Children’s Camp: 2 weeks (ages 4–11)
    • Youth Camp: 2 weeks (8 days, ages 12–15)
    • August 5: Tentative Youth Sleepover at MCBC
      • Dismissal at 4:00 p.m
      • Sleepover begins at 7:00 p.m
      • Team dismissal on Thursday at 1:00 p.m


    Post‑Camp & Follow‑Up: August 7 – 11

    After all camps conclude, the youth team will focus on evaluation, ministry transition, and planning for the school year. This week will also include team bonding and a fun day.

    • August 7: Team evaluation and clean‑up at MCBC (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
    • August 9: Camp Celebration Sunday Worship at PCA
    • August 10–11: Post‑camp follow‑up and ministry planning (location and time TBA)


    Team Bonding: 2 events will be scheduled during the work term.

      

    CAMP Location: Markham Chinse Baptist Church (9580 Woodbine Ave, Markham, ON L6C 1H8)

     

    Pay / Honorarium

    • This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ), with approval expected in April 2026.
    • Under Federal government CSJ criteria, the successful applicant will be paid in a range from $17.2 per hour up to $18 per hour (subjected to experience and seniority) 40 hours per week for from May 26 to Aug 11 (according to the CSJ application approval).

    Interview and Hiring Condition:

    • Camp depends on CSJ approval and successful rental of Camp Venue
    • Only shortlisted qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews.
    • Offers will be made after all the interviews have been completed.
    • The application window will close once all positions are filled. 
    • Mandatory Police Vulnerable Sector Check clearance required before camp begins (for those 18+ at the start date).
    • Upon confirmation of hiring, all candidates must go through and get a Valid CPR level C, Emergency (or standard) First Aid certificate.
