  • Thank you for your interest in The Helen and Jose Colton Foundation. 

    Mission: As a family Non-Profit Organization, The Helen and Jose Colton Foundation endeavors to continue the family legacy of supporting worthy organizations that focus on:

    -Enhancing the lives and promoting the educational opportunities of veterans, children and others that are extremely challenged in today's society.
    -providing rescue, care, welfare and/or repurposing of animals, both pets and wildlife, that have become forgotten, illtreated, or abandoned.

    Vision: To focus on physical projects that promote a global society that is free from encumbrances, so that all reach their full potential for the benefit of all.

    Your organization must be: 
      
    -A 501(c)(3) organization that are not private foundations as defined in section 509(a) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code; and/or 

    -The organization is currently recognized by the state in which it is registered that it is a public charity under the laws of that state; and/or, 
    the organization is a public entity operated or funded by the federal government, the state, the county, or the municipality for the public benefit. 
      
    -The organization must have been in operation at least 1 year. 

    -The organization’s mission must be directly related to one of our areas of interest: 
         Community 
         Veterans/Military or Veteran/Military Families 
         Children and others that are extremely challenged in today’s society 
         Animal Welfare 
      
    -We give preference to projects where our support can be “seen” in the form of equipment, improvements, or small construction projects that make a big difference. 
     
    -We do not make grants to projects where the primary benefit is to the grantee or to any one individual or their close family friends and family. 
     
    -We cannot support projects that influence the outcome of any specific election for candidates to public office, inducing or encouraging violations of law or public policy or causing any improper private benefit to occur. 
     
    -We cannot support any organizations that discriminate on the bases of race, gender, sex, class or sexual orientation.  We understand that certain projects will focus on helping a certain demographic, but it must do so without the intention of discrimination. 

    If you would like to be considered for a grant, please complete and submit a grant application. You may use the application, or the information provided, to create a proposal with pertinent information for our board’s review.
