  • MEDICAL CONCERNS

Camp can be physically tiring, even exhausting. The facility or activities may require volunteers to manage climbing, running, swimming, lifting, stairs, and other strenuous activities depending on the volunteer position. Your medical condition (physical fitness, recent or chronic injuries, allergies, physical or emotional limitations, etc.) and even the medications you take may be affected by the activities, the altitude, the foods served, the emotional challenges with the kids, or the sleeping conditions.

  • CRIMINAL BACKGROUND

If your records have been expunged pursuant to applicable law, you are not required to answer yes to the following questions. If you are unsure whether to answer yes, we strongly suggest that you answer yes and fully disclose all incidents to avoid any future risk of embarrassment upon disclosure.

  • All NEW Volunteers - Please Read

The application, interview and training process for camp volunteers is rigorous. As you look through the application you will notice that we require a variety of specific information, all of which we consider necessary to help us to choose the best for fit camp.

Therefore please, complete all of the application.

    1. For the protection of campers who have experienced abuse in their lives, we have rigorous systems in place for all volunteers including: criminal background and reference checks, detailed training and strict rules and procedures at camp. If you have had history of sexual or violent offense that involve anyone, you will not be considered for a volunteer position.

    2. We are a Christian organization and the philosophy of ministry is that our volunteers will have an active spiritual relationship to Christ. In both the application and the interview we will ask you about your church involvement and personal spirituality. Our goal is to provide children an atmosphere of care and love within the context of Christian truth and compassion.

    3. This camp is operated as a ministry of Share The Love Ocala sponsored by Good News Church. As such, all volunteers will fall under the authority of the Camp Leadership as trained by the National RFK/TRAC offices and under the authority and beliefs of Good News Church. It is not required that you be a member of, or agree theologically with the sponsoring church, but as a volunteer, you need to understand the church leadership does have authority over the operations and expectations of this camp and the church’s beliefs will inevitably be evident in the selection process and operation of this camp as a ministry of their church.

    4. Please complete all sections of the forms. We recognize that in some cases sensitive and confidential information is required. We value your confidentiality and strive to limit access of all written and verbal information you may provide to those who need to know.

    5. Because of the uniqueness and intensity of this ministry with children of abuse, not all applicants are accepted.

  • REPRESENTATIONS AND RELEASE

I understand that Share The Love Ocala (STLO) maintains strict policies against any form of child abuse, and that violation of these policies may be cause for dismissal. Child abuse is punishable by law, and STLO is bound by law to report allegations of abuse or any inappropriate sexual contact to the proper authorities. ALL reporting is kept confidential, by law. All volunteers must commit to immediately report any behavior that seems suspicious, questionable, abusive or inappropriate between: child-to-child, staff-to-child, and staff-to-staff.

If YOU are struggling with a sexual attraction to children, please opt out of service in STLO or any other child-serving organization, and seek help. One option is: “Hope for the Heart” at (800) 488-HOPE (4673) or www.hopefortheheart.org.

I understand that I will be required to submit to a background check as a condition of acceptance as a volunteer, and that unsatisfactory results, refusal to cooperate, or any attempt to affect the results of these background checks will result in me being removed as a volunteer or volunteer applicant.

I hereby certify that all of the information provided by me in this Application (or in any other accompanying or required documents) is correct, accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge.  I understand that the falsification, misrepresentation or omission of any facts in these documents may (or will) be cause for the denial of acceptance as a volunteer, or immediate removal as a volunteer, regardless of the timing or circumstances of discovery.

In consideration of the receipt and evaluation of this Application by the sponsoring Church or STLO Camp Leadership, I hereby authorize you to contact any references, churches, youth groups, schools attended, former and present employers, charities, courts, and any other person, agency, or organization that may have information about me, and for them to provide to you such information (including opinions) that they may have regarding my character and fitness for working with children; I hereby release any such references, churches, youth groups, schools attended, former and present employers, charities, courts, and any other person, agency or organization who may have provided information about me, including record custodians, both collectively and individually, from any and all liability for damages of whatever kind or nature which may at any time result to me, my heirs, or family, on account of compliance or any attempts to comply with this authorization.  I also agree to hold STLO, Good NEWS Church (the sponsoring church) and STLO Leadership harmless from any damages created by my unwarranted attempt to collect damages for providing information described above. I waive any right that I may have to inspect any information provided about me or by any person or organization identified by me in the Application process.

I understand that submission of an application does not guarantee me acceptance as a volunteer.  I further understand that should the STLO Leadership extend an offer to me as a volunteer, it is for no specific duration and may be revoked by either the sponsoring church, the STLO Leadership, or me at any time, with or without cause.

I understand that none of the documents, policies, procedures, actions, statements of RFK, the sponsoring church, the RFK Leadership or their representatives and agents used during the volunteer application process is deemed a contract, real or implied.  If accepted as a volunteer, I agree to conform to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of RFK while serving as a volunteer, and understand that such compliance is a condition of remaining a volunteer.

  • STATEMENT OF FAITH

    The Bible

We believe the Bible to be inspired by God, the final authority for faith and life, true and authoritative and God–breathed.

    God
We believe there is one true, holy God, eternally existing in three equal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He became a man, lived a perfect and sinless life. Jesus took the punishment for sin we deserve by dying on the cross. He was resurrected 3 days later and lives at the right hand of God in heaven. He promises to return to earth to fulfill God’s plan for the world.

    Salvation
We believe all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus. He lived without sin and died a death we deserve so that we might have a right relationship with our Holy God.

    The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity who convicts the world of sin and causes us to be sensitive to the things that matter to God. The Holy Spirit lives in each believer and is our source of assurance, strength and wisdom.

    This Life
We believe that an expression of our gratitude for God’s saving grace that this life is to be lived in obedience to God. Believers should seek to honor God with their lives through spending time worshipping him in church, through prayer time with Him, reading the bible, loving and caring for one another and pursuing a life of holiness.
    ___________________________________________

Share The Love Ocala is a ministry to children/teens who have been abused and neglected. I want to be a part of this ministry. I agree with Share The Love Ocala's Statement of Faith. I can attest that at this time in my life I am seeking God, regularly participating in a local church and I am not actively involved in an on-going sin. (If you need clarification about this, please see 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 for an example list of sins.)

John 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
