  • Who is eligible to apply?

    1. Students who have completed at least one (1) academic year of law school studies, and is currently attending St. John’s University Law School or CUNY Law School with proof of current enrollment.  Students graduating at the end of this academic year are eligible.

    OR  

    2. Students who have completed one (1) academic year of law school studies, and is currently attending any other American Bar Association accredited law school and is a resident of Queens County, NY for at least two (2) years.  Proof of current enrollment and Queens County residency is required (driver’s license, non-driver’s ID, utility bill, etc.).  Students graduating at the end of this academic year are eligible.


    The Scholarship Committee shall make its determinations based on a combination of the following:

    (a)  Academics Performance
    (b)  Financial Need
    (c)  Community Service
    (d)  Law School Service and Activities
    (e)  Personal Statements (2)
    (f)  Recommendation Letters (2)
    (g)  Personal Interview, if requested


    The scholarship application, your law school transcript, proof of current enrollment, proof of residency (if applicable) and letters of recommendation must be received no later than Friday, March 20, 2026.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Attach a brief statement of not more than 200 words concerning your financial needs and how this scholarship, if awarded, will impact your law school education.

    Attach a statement of not more than 500 words detailing your professional goals, particularly emphasizing significant law school service or community service activities or events in areas that you have been employed or volunteered and how these goals or activities relate to the Queens County legal community.  Be as specific as possible.

  • Letters of Recommendation

  • Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from individuals not related to you attesting to why you should be the recipient of this award.  Letters may be submitted by a current or former professor/teacher, current or former employer or any other individual.  Letters may be submitted with this application or sent directly to the Queens County Bar Association.  All recommendation letters must be received by Friday, March 27, 2026.

  • The application deadline for the 2026 Queens County Bar Association (QCBA) Scholarship in Friday, March 27, 2026.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. 

    The QCBA Scholarship will be for $2,500, payable directly to the recipient.  Applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision on/about May 1, 2026.  Scholarship recipients and a guest will be invited to attend the QCBA Annual Dinner on May 14, 2026 to receive their scholarship award.
