  • Summer Camp Counselors in Training Background:

    Peoples Gospel Church is excitingly planning our children and youth summer camp 2026.

    This is a meticulously planned project to provide quality coaching and training for young people who have a passion to build up younger lives. 

    Our vision is to help build up a community to achieve following purposes: 

    1. building a team of youth who are currently studying Grade 8-10 to become passionate and capable leaders impacting younger children that reflects Christ's love for all people.

    2. Building up a community of children by enjoying a fun-filled Bible camp experience led by Christian youth and young adults who are dedicated to care for and mentor them. Let the little children come to Jesus and experience His love through us. We are looking for passionate and experienced young individuals for such exciting vision and mission.

    3. Gain invaluable friendship that may last a lifetime through these annual projects.

    We are recruiting a group of Camp Counselors-in-training CITs in this year to plan for a vibrant community for children and families.   The number of final recruits varies depending on the funding we get and the number of counselors and team member we can hire.
      
    During the  working period, you will all be reporting to the Counselors, who in turn will be reporting to the Youth Coordinators.

     

    Role and Responsibility:

    The ideal candidate  will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, actively participate in all staff training and meetings, and show genuine passion for working with and empowering children and youth.  

    Responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring the well‑being and safety of all children in your care.
    • Leading Bible action songs, small group games, crafts, activities, and Bible studies.
    • Maintaining a daily log of work hours and submitting it to the Camp Coordinator(s) at the end of each day.
    • Serving as deputy leader when the Camp Counsellor is away or absent.


    Qualifications and Skills:

    1. A committed Christian who attends church regularly.
    2. Previous ministry experience (e.g., children’s ministry, youth ministry, or summer camp) is preferred.
    3. Completion of Grade 8 or higher by June 29, 2026
    4. Prior summer‑camp or children’s ministry volunteer experience is an asset.
    5. Enjoys being with kids; patient, enthusiastic, polite, team player, driven to learn, positive, and willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to grow and serve well.

    Volunteering working term dates:

    We cannot allow partial working weeks or days nor any vacation in between the above period.    

    If you cannot attend the whole period or if you are planning any vacation within this period, we regret we cannot accept your application. Please consider re-apply next year.

    • Dates: June 29 – Aug 7, 2026 
    • Requirement: Full‑time commitment. No partial weeks, days, or vacation allowed
    • Preparation for Camp weeks: Work time runs June 29 – July 10, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at MCBC. After dismissal, you’ll spend time preparing for group work and connecting in the evenings. Expect a full 40‑hour work week.
    • Camp Weeks: July 13 – Aug 6  (8am to 5:10pm)
      • 2 weeks: Children’s camp (ages 4–11)
      • 2 weeks (8 days): Youth camp (ages 12–15)
        • Aug 5: Tentative Youth Sleepover night at MCBC (dismissal at 4pm, sleepover starts 7pm, team dismissal on Thursday 1pm)
        • Aug 7: Team evaluation and clean up day (9am-3pm)
    • Aug 9-11: post‑camp followup and planning for ministry follow‑up (Location and time TBA)
    • Team Bonding: 2 events will be scheduled during the work term.

    Certificate or Honorarium:
    Upon successful completion with good standing, you will receive a certificate of volunteering.   CIT with good standing throughout the whole period may receive a token of gift appreciation from the church.

    Application

    • Suitable candidates will be invited for an interview.
    • Offers will be made after all the interviews have been completed.
    • The application window will close once all positions are filled. 



    For Gr 8 youths who apply to CIT and also to youth camp week: we will refund the youth week camp fee if you have been accepted as a CIT upon interview.

    We are thankful to every one of you who apply but we can only accept limited positions.
