The purpose of granting ministerial credentials is threefold:
- To know those who labor among us, in accordance with 1 Thessalonians 5:12.
- To certify and affirm our confidence in the character and calling of the ministers within our fellowship.
- To ensure our ministers are properly qualified to meet the requirements of the law.
It is the policy of Independent Assemblies not to grant any level of credentials to an applicant—regardless of qualifications—if it is apparent that the applicant desires credentials only and does not intend to function in fellowship with Independent Assemblies. In rare or unusual circumstances, exceptions may be made in which an Exhorter License or Minister License is granted; however, Ordination status will not be granted in such cases.
Code of Conduct
Independent Assemblies does not grant ministerial credentials to individuals whose conduct or affiliations are inconsistent with biblical teaching and the moral standards of this fellowship. Such inconsistencies may include, but are not limited to, sexual behavior outside of biblical marriage, substance abuse, involvement in occult practices, participation in unlawful or subversive activities, or membership in organizations that conflict with Scripture.
