  • About The Encounter Scene

The Closet Scene brings together works by designers Alana Burns, Lucía Echavarría, and Andrea Vargas Dieppa, which collectively propose a reflection on private spaces—those dedicated to retreat and intimacy—and on the objects that habitually inhabit them in our imagination. In The Encounter Scene, the emblematic building that houses the Ballet Folklórico de AmaliaHernández opens itself, allows circulation, and accompanies four female folk dancers and three musicians from the band Mixanteña de Santa Cecilia. Through an atemporal sonority and minimal, everyday gestures, they interweave relationships with the designers’ pieces, revealing a notion of femininity understood as a force capable of receiving and giving back, of sustaining and transforming. Design manifests itself as a bridge between need and desire, between functionality and emotion; a passage in which form ceases to be mere utility to reveal an intimate, vivid, and deeply human beauty—as a possible way of inhabiting life.
