Code of Ethics and Conduct-Contractor
  • Code of Ethics & Conduct

  • You are on the Inspire team because you have amazing potential to lead young people to overcome difficulties and influence their world!

Before anyone can lead with effectiveness, they must learn to be able to follow. It’s no coincidence that Jesus, the greatest leader ever, also was able to surrender to, submit to, and carry out everything that His Father asked of Him.

Often sacrifices must be made to lead at our greatest potential. This generation of students is starving for role models, people of integrity and character, living examples of Jesus, that they can look to and fashion their own lives after.

The Inspire Team exists to show a generation that a relationship can change everything for them. Ultimately, we want to see youth form a lasting relationship with Jesus. We want them to become passionate about leading others to this same relationship that has changed everything for them.

As stated in our staff handbook, ION believes it’s important to set clear expectations that a contracted team member will uphold the highest of Biblical standards of conduct, personally and professionally. As a Christian organization, ION is committed to uphold and advance Christian principles, and our Code of Conduct reflects this.

I agree that, as part of the qualifications for this role, I am a Christian who has made a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ through water baptism. I submit to the authority of the Word of God. I will always want to strengthen the Church. I accept without reservations ION’s Code of Ethics & Conduct, and I am committed to upholding it.

    Leadership Expectations:

    Passion

You have a passion to live your life for Jesus.

You have a living relationship with Jesus.

Your actions/lifestyle reflects that you are living for Jesus.

We need leaders that are passionate about Jesus and passionate about His Church.

    Servanthood

The best leaders are the best servants. Jesus was the best example of this in Scripture, best leader ever, but also knew how to serve. You can work with the other leaders on a powerful team.

    Commitment

You will attend all the Inspire meetings you have committed to and let your supervisor know if something comes up and you cannot be there. You will show up ready to interact and contribute at meetings.

    Character

Character means acting with integrity (Philippians 4:8). Character is what happens when we build and are in constant connection with Jesus. It’s been said that character is who we are when no one else is looking. It is expected that you are committed to growing in your relationship with Jesus. Things like regular church attendance, journaling, note taking, bible reading and prayer, and Sabbath really help in making this happen.

    Relational

Build relationships with others. Lead by example. Respect the authorities that God has established. (Romans 13:1-7) Maintain a high standard of sexual morality. This includes refraining from premarital sexual activity, adultery, incest, and the use of pornography. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Romans 1:26-27).

Maintain high ethical standards and integrity in relationships. This includes refraining from behavior such as gossip, cheating, stealing, vulgarity, profanity and harassment (Ephesians 4:25-32). It also means taking the high road in your dating/marriage relationships. Refrain from drunkenness, tobacco products, the abuse of prescription or use of illegal drugs, gambling, and the occult. Refrain from inappropriate use of media and other forms of entertainment. This includes inappropriate movies, music, and other things you can find on the internet.

I affirm the biblical teaching of God’s original and ongoing design for humanity as two distinct sexes, male and female. I do not affirm the resolution of the tension between one’s biological sex and one’s experience of gender by the adoption of an identity contradictory with one’s birth sex. I affirm both singleness and marriage as biblical lifestyles within the Christian community. I affirm that biblical marriage is an exclusive life partnership of love and faithfulness between a man and a woman. Sexual union is reserved for marriage, celibacy is required of the unmarried, and each Christian is called to a life of sexual purity in both thought and action.
