Tenant FAQ β New Leaf Legacy Living
Find answers to common questions about membership, eligibility, expectations, and policies for our shared housing program.
π± Is this a lease or tenancy?
No. This is a membership-based shared housing program, not a traditional lease. Members receive a license to occupy, which can be revoked if rules are not followed.
π± Who is this housing for?
Our homes serve adults seeking stability during life transitions, including veterans, returning citizens, former foster youth, interns, working professionals, and individuals with fixed incomes.
π± How long can I stay?
Typical stays range from 3 to 12 months, with the option to stay longer if needed based on progress, availability, and program alignment.
π± What are the expectations?
Members must follow house rules, maintain cleanliness, respect others, pay housing fees on time, and participate in scheduled check-ins.
π± Is this a treatment or medical program?
No. New Leaf Legacy Living is housing-focused and non-clinical. We do not provide medical, mental health, or substance abuse treatment services.
π± Are guests allowed?
Guest policies vary by home. Overnight guests are generally not permitted unless approved.
π± What happens if rules are violated?
Violations may result in corrective action or termination of membership, depending on severity.
π± Is housing guaranteed once I apply?
No. Applications are reviewed to ensure safety, compatibility, and program fit. Placement is not guaranteed.
π± Will I have my own room?
Room arrangements vary by property. Some homes offer private rooms, while others may include shared accommodations. Availability is based on the specific home and current occupancy.
π± Do I need to be working to live here?
Members must have verifiable income, benefits, or a placement plan (such as employment, internship, SSI/SSA, or VA benefits). The goal is stability and the ability to meet housing obligations.
π± Are background and credit checks conducted?
Yes. Background and credit reviews may be conducted as part of the screening process; however, they are not strict and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The focus is on safety, stability, and program fitβnot perfection or past mistakes.
