  • This Award is open to all UK Indoor Play Operators, whether or not you are an AIP Member.

    Entry is open to single and multi-site indoor play operators in the UK inclusive of farm parks with indoor play, role play centres, baby sensory, play cafes, laser tag arenas and inflatable parks offering indoor play. Indoor play operators with other mixed activities are also welcome. You will be judged on your indoor play offering.

    NOTE: If you are an independent roleplay centre please enter the Best Role Play Category.

    On the basis of the award entry form and supporting documentation the judges will shortlist the finalists.  All finalists will be announced on Thursday 2nd April.  The winners will be announced at the Industry Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 4th June 2026.

    Award Criteria

    The Best Indoor Play Centre between 10,000-20,000sqft celebrates and honours the most outstanding attractions within the indoor play industry that operate in a space between 10,000-20,000sqft.* 

    *Square footage is to be calculated on size of indoor play area building including kitchen, storage, party rooms, cafe, etc. If the building is shared with another business (ie a Nursery) take the total building sqft and subtract the space dedicated to the other business.

     1. Operational Excellence (200 words)

    Demonstrates consistently high standards across all areas of the play centre, including safety, cleanliness, staffing, organisation, and overall facility management. 

    2. Exceptional Customer Experience (200 words)

    Provides strong, specific examples of positive customer feedback that showcase memorable, high-quality visitor experiences. 

    3. Distinctiveness & Innovation (200 words)

    Clearly communicates what makes the play centre stand out – i.e. unique themes, creative play experiences, innovative features, or exceptional service that differentiates it from competitors. 

    4. Impact & Lasting Value (200 words)

    Shows how the play centre delivers meaningful, memorable experiences for families and contributes positively to the wider children’s activities/play industry. 

    To be considered for the award you must certify that you have in place:

    • Clear “Rules of Play” for your customers
    • 5 Star EHO rating
    •  An effective written Risk Assessment covering all areas of your business including a Fire Assessment
    • A H&S Policy
    • An annual independent RPII playframe inspection of your frame/equipment conducted within the last 12 months

    Each submission is submitted FREE of charge but must be supported by the completed application form, supporting documentation, images and statement.

    The entries will be shortlisted to a handful of finalists by a panel which will include, where possible, an industry expert.

    The category sponsor will announce and present the award at the ceremony.
