  • This Award is open to all UK Indoor Play Operators, whether or not you are an AIP Member.

    Entry is open to single and multi-site indoor play operators in the UK inclusive of farm parks with indoor play, role play centres, baby sensory, play cafes, laser tag arenas and inflatable parks offering indoor play. Indoor play operators with other mixed activities are also welcome. You will be judged on your indoor play offering.

    On the basis of the award entry form and supporting documentation the judges will shortlist the finalists.  All finalists will be announced on Thursday 2nd April.  The winners will be announced at the Industry Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 4th June 2026.

    Award Criteria

    The Best Coffee and Cake Experience award celebrates indoor play centres that elevate the coffee & cake experience, delivering outstanding quality, presentation and service in their "sweet" offerings. This award recognises those who create inviting, comfortable spaces for parents and caregivers while providing exceptional coffee and delicious baked goods. 

    Entrants must demonstrate how they meet these criteria: 

    1. Quality & Consistency of Coffee and Baked Goods

    Demonstrates high-quality coffee and cakes made with care, skill and good ingredients. Judges will look for consistency, flavour and overall quality across the menu. 

    2. Café Experience & Environment

    Creates a welcoming, comfortable café space where parents and carers genuinely enjoy spending time. This includes presentation, atmosphere, cleanliness and how well the café integrates into the play centre experience. 

    3. Customer Service & Attention to Detail

    Delivers friendly, efficient and thoughtful service that enhances the overall experience. Judges will look for evidence of staff knowledge, care and responsiveness to customer needs. 

    4. Creativity & Added Value

    Shows creativity or innovation in offerings such as presentation, seasonal specials, dietary-friendly options, or unique touches that elevate the standard coffee-and-cake experience. 

    To be considered for the award you must certify that you have in place:

    • Compliance with Natasha's Law: Ensuring compliance with Natasha's Law is crucial. Entrants should provide evidence of their commitment to food safety and allergen information in accordance with this legislation.
    • Five-Star EHO Rating: A requirement for entry is achieving a five-star Environmental Health Officer (EHO) rating, underscoring the importance of maintaining high hygiene and safety standards.

    Each submission is submitted FREE of charge but must be supported by the completed application form, supporting documentation, images and statement.

    The entries will be shortlisted to a handful of finalists by a panel which will include, where possible, an industry expert.

    The category sponsor will announce and present the award at the ceremony.
