Entertainment Labor for Palestine is a collective of rank and file union workers from entertainment guilds on screen, stage and set, united for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine, and a just & lasting peace. Film Workers for Palestine was created as a call by and for filmmakers and cinema workers to stand for an end to genocide and for a free Palestine.
Even before this extreme stage of censorship continued to heighten after the events of October 2023, there had been numerous reports of discrimination and/or retaliation against entertainment workers who express support for Palestine. To this day, there have been few if any support systems for those experiencing this repression.
EL4P and FWP are joining forces to change that.
As part of this joint initiative, we are seeking to hear from entertainment workers who have experienced discrimination/retaliation for expressing support for Palestine, or for their related identities. By compiling and analyzing these stories, we hope to shine a light on industry processes that allow this discrimination to persist, reveal important patterns and specific impacts across communities, uncover new possibilities for intervention, and establish avenues to support affected workers, including assessing potential legal recourse.
Like other organizations attempting to navigate the hazardous process of gathering information on censorship and repression related to Palestine (see the similar campaign established by Writers Against the War on Gaza), we understand that coming forward can be a daunting task, especially given the consequences that sharing one's story can incur.
But rest assured: we have in place several mechanisms to protect your privacy and ensure your anonymity. The information submitted through this encrypted form, as well as any information provided in communications thereafter, will be kept internally, unless we are given explicit consent to share it.
