    If you will be racing in a one-design class, as listed in the Notice of Race, please select your boat type in the box below.

    To enter a Sports Boat not listed, please choose the Mixed Sports Boat class.  

    For other boats not listed, please choose one of the Cruiser classes. 

    Cruisers 0 to 3 are for boats that use spinnakers, and are divided on the basis of their Standard ECHO handicap or IRC handicap.   As explained in the Notice of Race, the divisions are subject to adjustment.  Provisional boundaries:

    Cruisers 0:  1.035 or higher Cruisers 2:  0.920 to 0.979
    Cruisers 1:  0.980 to 1.034 Cruisers 3:  0.919 or lower

    Cruisers 4 and 5 are for boats racing without spinnakers or similar. 
    Cruisers 5 boats must have a roller-furling headsail.

    The committee reserves the right to allocate a boat to any class.

  • This is a summary of the main Terms and Conditions for Entry

    1. I/We accept the Club regulations and agree to sail according to the Sailing Instructions.
    2. My/our boat is adequately covered by third-party insurance for DBSC races. (Minimum €3 Million).
    3. I/We shall comply with the Class Safety Equipment rules to be established by the class.
    4. My/Our boat will be available for inspection by the Class Safety Officer.
    5. Competitors sail entirely at their own risk. Dublin Bay Sailing Club Ltd., its race officers, committee and organisers shall not be liable in the event of any claim for accident or mishap.
    6. If my/our boat experiences damage or rig failure, early or late in the racing series, which prevents me/us from continuing the racing series, DBSC is not required to grant a refund of boat entry fee. Refund of Membership under Memorandum and Articles of the Club is not permitted.
    7. It is the sole responsibility of each helm/owner to decide whether to sail or not in every case.

  • If you are under 18, you may be eligible to join as a Cadet Member.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for Cadet Membership here. 

    If you claim to be eligible to enter on this basis, and are later found not to be eligible, you will forfeit your entry fee.

  • Person in Charge (NoR 3.3)

  • Rule 46 of the Racing Rules of Sailing requires that a boat shall have on board a Person in Charge designated by the member or organisation that entered the boat.

    The Irish Sailing Prescriptions to the Racing Rules of Sailing require that the designated Person in Charge shall: 

    i) Be an Irish Sailing Personal Member, or a member of an Irish Sailing affiliated Category 1 Club or an equivalent club in Northern Ireland OR

    ii) When the designated Person in Charge is not ordinarily a resident within the jurisdiction of Irish Sailing, the competitor shall comply with the requirements of the National Authority of the country of which he or she is a national or ordinarily a resident.

  • Cruisers 0 to 5 Requirements (NoR 3.6, 3.7)

  • Racing for Cruisers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be conducted on the basis that all boats meet CE Category C - capable of operating in coastal waters and large bays, with winds up to and including Beaufort Force 6 and significant wave height up to 2 m.

  • A boat in Cruisers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 shall comply with World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations, Appendix B (Special Regulations for Inshore Racing).  In addition, it shall carry the following items in working order:

    • A permanently installed manual bilge pump, with a handle made fast and freely available.
    • A marine VHF radio, freely available.  If this is a handheld unit, it must be safely secured and protected from accidental transmission.
    • A first aid kit and first aid manual.
    • Two orange smoke flares.
    • An effective means to disconnect or cut the standing rigging quickly.
  • Data Protection, Use of Images (NoR 11, 12)

  • The personal information that you are providing to DBSC will be used to facilitate particiapation in the series (plural).  Personal information will be stored and used in accordance with the DBSC Privacy Policy.  When required by the rules, personal information may be shared with irish Sailing, a competitor's national authority and/or World Sailing.

    Details of each boat entered, including the name and club membership of the person entering the boat, may be published.  The results of the races and series and details of any hearing or appeal may be published.

    DBSC may arrange for images or videos to be taken of racing and associated events.  By participating, competitors give consent to this, and to the use and publication of such images without compensation and without the competitor's specific approval.  See NoR 12 for full details.
