• Ashburn Village Invasives Removal at Pavilion Lake

    January 25, 2026 1PM-3PM
  • (REGISTRATION FORM BELOW)

Pavilion Lake, Ashburn Village’s most popular destination, is home to at least 25 species on the Virginia Invasives List.  These invasives are crowding out and taking over the native trees, bushes, and flowers there.  So for the next 12 months, we will focus on creating an invasive-free lake in the heart of our HOA.

On January 25, we will tackle the invasive Bradford Pear, White Mulberry, Japanese Honeysuckle,  and Bush Honeysuckle, and maybe even some Multiflora Rose, encircling the lake.

You will learn to identify these invasive plants and use hand tools to cut them to the ground and treat them so they stop spreading.  The more people we have, the more small to medium sized trees/shrubs we can remove.

    When: Sunday, January 25: 1PM - 3PM

What to bring: Hand pruners, loppers, pruning saws if you have them. Not required. Participants may work with herbicides (applied via daubers), so personal protective equipment (safety glasses and nitrile gloves) will be provided. Also, you must wear a hat, long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Sunglasses and gardening/work gloves will be useful.

If you have any issues/questions registering below, please email Tracy Whittington at nabertj@gmail.com or text her at 412-848-2850.
