  Participant Agreement, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk
  
  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. THIS IS A LEGAL AGREEMENT.
  
  Please read this document carefully. It affects your legal rights.
  
  This Agreement is between you (the “Participant”) and the Rocky Mountain Ecodharma Retreat Center, a Colorado non-profit corporation, its staff, board of directors, volunteers, retreat cooks, retreat leaders, retreat teachers, retreat managers, and any other organizations holding or leading retreat there, and representatives (collectively, “RMERC”).
  
  1. Activities and Risks
  
  I understand that participation in activities at the Rocky Mountain Ecodharma Retreat Center (“RMERC”) may include outdoor, wilderness, residential, and retreat activities, including but not limited to camping, mountainous high-altitude terrain and weather, walking, hiking, cooking, use of facilities, working on the land, fire use, travel by vehicle, encounters with wildlife and periods of solitude. My participation in each activity is voluntary and I may opt out of any activity.
  
  I understand activities at RMERC involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:
  
  Slips, falls, uneven terrain
  Weather and environmental hazards
  Wildlife, insects, and plants
  Illness, including infectious diseases
  Physical or emotional injury, disability, or death
  Property damage or loss
  
  2. Assumption of Risk
  
  I voluntarily choose to participate in RMERC activities and assume all risks, whether known or unknown, inherent, or unforeseeable, to the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law.
  
  I am responsible for my own health, safety, decisions, and actions during my participation.
  
  3. Release of Liability
  
  To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, I release and discharge RMERC, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents, from all claims for personal injury, illness, death, or property damage arising out of my participation in RMERC activities, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence or willful and wanton conduct.
  
  4. Medical Responsibility
  
  I understand that RMERC is in a rural mountainous location and medical care may be unavailable or delayed. I am solely responsible for any medical expenses or related costs arising from my participation. RMERC does not provide health insurance.
  
  5. Infectious Disease
  
  I understand that participation may increase the risk of exposure to infectious diseases, including influenza and COVID-19. I voluntarily assume that risk and agree that RMERC is not responsible for illness or related costs.
  
  6. Severability
  
  If any portion of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
  
  7. Governing Law
  
  This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under Colorado law.
