Arrowtown Photography Competition 2026 organized and runby Arrowtown Promotion & Business Association (APBA)Conditions of Entry:Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of thefollowing terms and conditions:1 The competition opens 1st January 2026 andclosing date for entries is midnight March 15, 2026.2 These times and dates are strictly adhered to. 3 All entries must be submitted online via atownphotocomp@gmail.com or via theonline portal (https://www.arrowtown.com/our-town/arrowtown-photography-competition/).IMPORTANT Please include the category you are entering inthe subject header. All images must betitled with “name of photographer_title of image_category”4 Amateur photographers only may enter. For the purposes ofthe competition you are deemed to be a professional photographer if you sourcemore than 20% of your income from photography or have ever traded as aprofessional photographer. 5 The entrant must be the sole original author and owner ofthe copyright of the photograph(s) entered. as described in the Copyright Act1994. 6 Any person entering a plagiarised image will bedisqualified. 7 By entering the competition, the entrant accepts that ifits photograph is chosen as a category or overall winner, the ArrowtownPromotion and Business Association (“APBA”) may use the entrants photograph(s) on its website, calendars, social mediaor marketing collateral in perpetuity. Photo credits will be issued where possiblebut may not always be possible.8 Subjects of photographs must be from the Arrowtown areabordered by the Crown Range, Shotover River, Lake Hayes and Gibbston Valley butinclude the accompanying backcountry of Coronet and Macetown.9 Photographs must be landscape (horizontal) only andwill not be granted entry if portrait (vertical) is submitted in errorfrom one of the following categories and include as subject header for correctclassification : 1. Wildlife/Nature; 2. Seasons; 3. Landscapes, 4. Nightscapes;5.Outdoor Recreation; 6. History (In celebration of Arrowtown past and AutumnFestival 40th Anniversary)Additional categories for creative vision – 7) B&W and 8)Youth (14 years and under – Is an “Open” category choice) can be portrait(vertical) or landscape (horizontal ).10 Each entrant can only win multiple categories. Grandprize winners are ineligible to win the grand prize again for three years. 11 Photographic entries must have been taken no earlier than1 January 2025 (with the history category the only exception). 12 Each adult (15 years and over) can submit up to fourphotographic entries per category or across any categories. Youth entries can only enter in the YouthCategory in which they can submit up to two photographic entries. 13 If more than four photographic entries are submitted,only the first four entries sent will be counted as the official entry. If the entries are not titled with thephotographers name, photo title and photography category, the entry will bedeemed void. Photography entries: minimum file size 2MB; maximum file size5MB; minimum 240 dpi preferred photos must be submitted as JPEGs, watermarks orsignatures should not be included. No screen shots will be accepted.Photographs must have metadata supplied. 15 Entries that fail to meet the above 2 points (13 &14) specified format will not be considered and will be disqualified from entrywith no correspondence entered into. 16 Photographs that are heavily digitally altered will notbe accepted as entries to the competition. 17 Entrants may be required to provide the original sourceof their photograph for enlargement and display purposes. Please note,photographs may be cropped for display purposes in the competition exhibitionor marketing collateral. 18 Entrants retain the copyright to their submittedphotographs. The APBA retains unlimited use of all entries for an unlimitedperiod of time for any promotion or publication. The authorship of the entrantwill be clearly acknowledged in each case of use. 19 The organisers acknowledge the moral rights provisions ofthe Copyright Act 1994, including the right to be identified as the author ofthe photograph and the right to object to derogatory treatment of thephotograph. To preserve the artistic integrity of the entry, no work will beintentionally edited (other than as stated in condition 17), altered, demeanedor misrepresented in any way. 20 It is the entrant’s responsibility to obtain appropriatewritten permission from people or owners of property, animals or plants thatare identifiable in their photograph. The entrant must produce evidence of thatconsent to the organisers if requested. By entering thecompetition the entrant confirms it has complied with New Zealand law whileshooting its entries. 21 The entrant fullyindemnifies the organisers against any claims arising from the display or useof the entries as described herein andfrom the infringement of intellectual property rights of any third party. 22 The organisers reserve the right to not show all entriesin the exhibition. The selection of images in the exhibition is the sole rightof the organiser. 23 No correspondencewill be entered into with the entrant if their entry is not selected for theexhibition. 24 If the organisers are unable to open or upload theentries submitted because of technical errors caused by file quality or if thefile is damaged, the organiser reserves the right not to include the entries inthe competition. No correspondence will be entered into with the entrant. 25 All entries will be treated with care, but noresponsibility will be accepted in the case of loss or damage of any entry(including but not limited to loss of file data). Insurance is the entrant’ssole responsibility unless agreed in writing with the organiser. 26 Entrants agree to be contacted by the organisersregarding this competition and subsequent exhibition, future ArrowtownPhotography Competitions as well as photography workshops. 27 The entrant’s consent to these Terms and Conditions isthrough their uploading of photos to the competition online. 28 Staff and immediate families of the competitionorganisers are not eligible to enter the competition. ‘Immediate’ refers tosiblings, parents, children or spouses. 29 Finalists and winners will be announced prior to the 40thArrowtown Autumn Festival (16-19th April 2026) and the overall winner and trophy only will bepresented at an official function during the Arrowtown Autumn Festival at theLakes District Museum, or at a time and place otherwise determined by theorganiser. All finalists photographswill be on display at the foyer of the Lakes District museum during autumnfestival and through till late May. 30 The decision of the organisers and judges on all mattersrelating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be enteredinto at any stage. 31 Prizes are non-transferable and are not redeemable forcash*
