The #LiveLike23 Brock Ramias Memorial Flag Football Tournament is a family-run, community fundraiser held in memory of Brock Ramias. The purpose of this tournament is to bring people together through sport, raise funds for a meaningful cause, and honour Brock’s legacy in a way that reflects his spirit.
We value competition, effort, and teamwork, but above all, we value respect, safety, and enjoyment for everyone involved.
1. Age Divisions & Eligibility
Age is determined as of December 31 of the current season year.
Pee Wee Division
Ages 11–12
Bantam Division
Ages 13–15
Adult Division
Ages 16+
Additional Notes:
Players may only participate in one division.
Proof of age may be requested.
Tournament organizers reserve the right to move a player up a division for safety or competitive balance.
Each team must designate one Team Representative (Captain or Coach). This individual is the sole point of contact for tournament communication and is responsible for collecting and submitting all waiver forms and team payments.
2. Clothing & Equipment
a) Jerseys / Shirts
Must remain tucked in during play, or
Must allow a minimum 4-inch gap between the bottom of the jersey and the waistline.
b) Miscellaneous
No towels attached at the waist.
No pads or braces worn above the waist.
c) Footballs
Footballs will be provided by tournament officials.
d) Pants / Shorts
No belt loops, belts, or exposed drawstrings.
Pants/shorts must be a different colour than the flags.
3. Team Composition & Scrimmage Line
Teams may roster up to 15 players.
Games are played 7 players per side.
Teams with fewer than 7 players will forfeit.
Line of Scrimmage
Offence must have a minimum of 3 players on the line (1 center, 2 guards).
Maximum of 5 players may be on the line.
Offensive linemen must be within 5 metres of the center.
Defence must line up 1 yard off the ball.
4. Game Clock & Timeouts
Games consist of two 20-minute halves.
A 30-second play clock begins once the referee spots the ball.
Clock Rules
First Half: Running clock except for timeouts.
Second Half: Running clock except for the final 2 minutes.

Clock restarts on the snap.
Timeouts
Each team is allotted three 30-second timeouts per game.
5. Downs & Possession
Teams receive 3 downs.
One first down is awarded at midfield.
Once past midfield, teams have 3 downs to score.
Walk-Off Punt Option
On any third down, teams may elect a 25-yard walk-off punt.
The ball may not be placed closer than 3 metres from the goal line.
6. Kickoffs & Punts
There are no kickoffs.
The ball is placed 10 yards from the offensive goal line.
There are no live punts.
7. Scoring
Touchdown: 6 points
1-point conversion: From 3 yards
2-point conversion: From 10 yards
Safety: 2 points
Extra point attempts are live (interceptions may be returned for points).
There are no field goals.
8. Dead Ball Situations & Fumbles
The ball is declared dead immediately when:
The ball carrier falls to the ground
A flag is pulled
A forward pass is incomplete
The ball contacts the net or boards (unless carried by a player)
The ball is fumbled
Fumbles
If the ball is fumbled, the play is dead at the spot of the fumble
Fumbles cannot be forced by the defence
No diving for a fumbled ball is permitted
9. Offence Rules
Ball must be snapped between the center’s legs.
Offensive line must be motionless for 1 full second before the snap.
All players except the center are eligible receivers.
Only one forward pass, thrown from behind the line of scrimmage.
The quarterback may run at any time.
Controlled spins are permitted.

Flag guarding
Stiff-arming
Hurdling
Diving to advance the ball
10. Blocking
Open-hand blocking only.
No use of arms, elbows, legs, or cut blocking.
Blocking is permitted only:
On the line of scrimmage by offensive linemen
Through the line by running backs
No downfield blocking is permitted.
11. Diving & Jumping
Diving to advance the ball is prohibited.
Players may dive only to catch a pass.
Players may not dive to recover a fumble.
12. Tackling & Contact
Tackling is performed by pulling flags only.
Physical tackling is illegal and subject to penalty or disqualification.
Offensive charging or deliberate contact is prohibited.
13. Penalties
5-Yard Penalties include procedural and equipment violations.
10-Yard Penalties include:
Tackling
Unsportsmanlike conduct
Roughing the passer
Illegal contact
Automatic first downs apply where applicable.
14. Tie Games (Playoffs Only)
Each team selects 3 offensive and 3 defensive players (excluding QB).
Players may not play both offence and defence.
Teams alternate 1-on-1 attempts.
15. Officials
Only the Team Representative may communicate with officials.
Officials’ decisions during play are final.
16. Code of Conduct
This is a family-run fundraiser built on community, respect, and connection.
All players, coaches, spectators, and volunteers are expected to:
Treat officials, volunteers, and participants with respect
Support a positive and inclusive environment
Harassment, intimidation, or abuse of officials or support staff will not be tolerated.
Concerns must be raised calmly and respectfully through the Team Representative.
The Tournament Director may issue warnings, remove individuals from the event, or disqualify teams if necessary. Disqualification may result in forfeiture of prizes.
