  • Level Four Application

  • Applicants for DanceStep Level Four will be required to participate in a short interview (approximately 15 minutes) prior to commencing classes in Term 1.

This interview forms part of the Level Four application process and is designed to assess each student’s readiness to take on an elevated leadership role within the DANCE1 community.

    Interview Reflection Areas

During the interview, students will be asked to reflect on the following:

    • The DANCE1 Core Values and specific ways you intend to uphold and represent these
    • Your Level 3 DanceStep feedback & how you intend to improve on this during Level 4
    • Situations in which you as a DanceStep teacher can continue to demonstrate initiative & leadership during your DanceStep class & own classes at the studio
    • How you intend to be a role-model within the DANCE1 community and ways in which you will demonstrate this consistently throughout 2026.
    • Responses to classroom-based scenarios, including behaviour management, discipline, inclusivity and age-appropriate modifications.

In addition to the above, your Level Four Application will assess your presentation & communication with the Studio Director &/or Studio Manager. Think of your application as a ‘job interview’ type scenario.

This short interview will take place between on Thursday 28th & Saturday 31st January and you can book your slot below.

  • Please list at least TWO day & time availabilities (Monday – Thursday)

(DANCE1 will endeavour to accommodate day/genre preferences, however this may not always be possible due to the 2026 schedule & ensuring that teachers receive a well-rounded experience of various styles)

    • Work positively with all members of DANCE1 to support a safe, inclusive and encouraging studio culture.
    • Actively participate in and support studio events, and be of service to others where appropriate.
    • Maintain an attitude of doing my personal best, including reliable attendance, punctuality, correct uniform and appropriate grooming in line with DANCE1 expectations.
    • Wear full and correct DANCE1 uniform to all assisting classes and my own dance classes. I understand that ongoing failure to meet uniform and grooming expectations may result in a review of my Student Teacher position.
    • Be a positive role model to other students, showing care, kindness and maturity within my interactions.
    • Attend my allocated Junior class each week and remain present for the full duration.
    • Communicate with Miss Kirsty &/or Miss Luisa as early as possible if I am unable to attend my allocated class.
    • Understand that more than 2 absences per term from my assisting role may result in a review, as consistency and reliability are essential components of the DanceStep Program.
    • Attend both Coaching Sessions outlined in the DanceStep Information for the full duration.
    • Ask my Mentor Teacher to sign my Attendance sheet each week – without a signed attendance record hours cannot be counted.
    • Participate in the 2026 C.B.A.A. Jazz Examination as required for my DanceStep Level.

I acknowledge that participation in the DanceStep Program does not guarantee future employment with DANCE1.

Please sign below to indicate that you have read and understood your responsibilities as a DanceStep Student Teacher and that you agree to carry out the role to the best of your abilities.

By signing this contract, you also agree that if your actions do not demonstrate the expectations listed above, your role as a Student Teacher may be reviewed.
