Scholarship applications are first reviewed by The Children’s Foundation staff to confirm eligibility. Eligible applications are then scored by the Reach for Success Committee.
Applications are assessed in three areas:
- Individual Attributes
- Academic Goals
- Financial Need
All scholarship application forms, transcripts, and reference forms must be received no later than April 30, 2026.
Required Documents
To apply for a scholarship, students must submit the following:
- Completed scholarship application
- Proof of Acceptance or Proof of Enrollment
- A personal reference form is required to accompany all first-time Scholarship applicants. This form needs to be submitted by a school counselor, teacher, coach, or another appropriate reference. Here is the link to the form for you to share with your reference:

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- The applicant has been shaped by limited financial resources or life circumstances that have influenced their educational journey and would benefit from financial support to pursue post-secondary education.
- The applicant resides in one of the following areas (prior to attending school and/or while not attending school):
Hastings County
Northumberland County
Prince Edward County
- The applicant is under 26 years of age at the start of their current program of study, or under 30 years of age if they have previously received scholarship or bursary funding from The Children’s Foundation for the same program.
- The applicant is registered in, or planning to attend, an accredited post-secondary or trade school on a full-time basis for a full academic year.
Scholarship Payments
Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school and are distributed in two installments:
- Before the first installment is released, proof of enrollment must be submitted to The Children's Foundation by the 15th of the month prior to the start of the applicant’s term.
- Before the second installment is released, proof of continued enrollment must be submitted one month prior to the start of the second term.
