  • The Buchanan Promise provides up to four (4) years of financial support, with a maximum of $3,750 per school year (depending on your scholarship funding percentage level), to be applied toward educational expenses for a degree, certificate, or training program. Eligible expenses include tuition, fees, books, and room & board charged through your institution's account.

    Important: Consult your tax advisor regarding the taxability of Buchanan Promise funds.

    Key Details:

    • Disbursement: Funds will be disbursed to the institution and not directly to students.
    • Usage Period: Funds must be used within six (6) years of high school graduation and are intended to be distributed equally over this period. Exceptions may be granted for active military service.
    • Award Acceptance: You must accept or defer your Promise award through the Promise Pledge link by August 15th. Failure to do so will result in removal from consideration.
    • Enrollment Verification: If using your award for the fall semester, you must submit proof of enrollment (e.g., enrollment letter, class schedule, or tuition statement that includes your name, your school name and student ID number).
    • Contact Information Updates: Notify the Buchanan Promise office immediately of any changes to your contact information, including home/school address, phone number, email, or institution.
