    MTAC Santa Monica Bay will be having a Student Branch Recital on February 22, 2026 (Sunday) at 4:00pm. If there are enough students for more than one recital, additional recitals will be added at 2:30pm, and/or 5:30pm.

    Rules & Guidelines

    General Information
    Solo Performers or Ensemble Groups

    • Guitar/Wind/Brass/String/Voice solo performers
      • Solo repertoire must be performed with live accompaniment if the piece was 1) originally written for solo instrument/voice with piano or 2) if the piece was originally written for solo instrument/voice with chamber ensemble or orchestra
        • If the piece was written for solo instrument/voice with chamber ensemble or orchestra, the student may perform with a pianist playing a reduction of the score

    Number of Students & Total Playing Time
    Each teacher may enter up to a maximum of 15 minutes of total playing time divided among:

    • Solo Performers OR
    • Ensemble Groups OR
    • Solo Performers and Ensemble Groups combined
    • We encourage teachers to submit as many students as they have prepared
    • Students may be in Grades K-12, College, or Adult, but must be playing at CM Level 4 (or equivalent) and higher
      • See Repertoire information below
    • Any teacher with more than 15 minutes of total playing time is encouraged to contact the Chair to see if there is enough time to accommodate the extra time/students

    Repertoire

    • Any classical solo or ensemble literature from any era
    • Students must be playing at CM Level 4 (or equivalent) and higher
    • Students do NOT need to be registered for CM to participate in this Festival
    • Maximum of two unrelated works may be programmed
    • Movements from the same piece or collection of shorter pieces are considered ONE work

      • Students/Parents are asked to please communicate with the Chair through your Teacher

    Solo Performers
    $25 fee per solo performer

    • Solo Performers must be Students
    • Solo Performers include:
      • Piano Soloists
      • Guitar/Wind/Brass/String/Voice Soloists (unaccompanied)
      • Guitar/Wind/Brass/String/Voice Soloists (accompanied on piano by non-student collaborative artist, teacher, or parent)

    Ensemble Groups
    $40 fee per ensemble group
    (covers all members of the ensemble group)

    • Ensemble Groups are chamber music ensembles of two or more performers
    • All members of Ensemble Groups must be Students, unless the work is for multiple "soloists" with accompaniment
    • At least one member of the Ensemble Group must be a Student of an MTAC Santa Monica Bay Branch Teacher
    • Ensemble Groups include:
      • Piano Four Hands (Duets), Piano Duos, etc.
      • Instrumental and/or Vocal Ensembles with/without piano

    Memorization & Performing Experience

    • Memorization for Piano solo literature is mandatory.
    • Memorization for Guitar solo literature (unaccompanied and accompanied) is mandatory.
    • Memorization for Vocal solo literature (unaccompanied and accompanied) is mandatory.
    • Memorization for other Non-Piano Instrumental solo literature is optional.
    • Memorization for all Ensemble Groups (chamber music) is optional.
      Students must have previous performing experience.

    Etiquette & Concert Dress

    • All performers must stay for the entirety of their assigned recital program.
    • All performers must appear in CONCERT DRESS.
      • For example, NO T-shirts, clothing with advertising, jeans, shorts, sweatpants, mini-skirts, sneakers, or flip flops.

  • Media Waiver

    By checking YES above, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Term and Condition. By checking YES above and submitting this online form, you acknowledge that you are the participant or parent/legal guardian of the child participant (“Minor”).

    I hereby grant my consent, as the participant or paren/legal guardian of the Minor, to MTAC Santa Monica Bay to photograph, electronically record, transfer, or film the Minor for distribution in all media at any time, all public performances and appearances in or associated with the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital without any compensation or remuneration.

    I also grant to MTAC Santa Monica Bay the right to use any such recorded performances, interviews, quotations or photographs of me or the Minor; and the right to use my or the Minor’s name (with permission), voice, image, and likeness in connection with a MTAC Santa Monica Bay Event, including but not limited to: publication in books, magazines, pamphlets, advertising, and newspapers; and on television, radio, internet, and social media channels, without any compensation or remuneration.

  • Consent & Release Agreement

    By checking YES above, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Term and Condition. By checking YES above and submitting this online form, you acknowledge that you are the participant or parent/legal guardian of the child participant (“Minor”).

    I hereby unconditionally release and discharge the MTAC Santa Monica Bay, their agencies, departments, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, hosts, or collaborating partners, and all other persons and entities involved with the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, costs, and all other expenses that may arise in connection with my or the Minor’s participation in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital.

    I understand that the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital may have a physical element to it. I agree and understand that by signing this Waiver, I am or the Minor is physically fit enough to participate as a volunteer or participant in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital. I hereby certify that I am or the Minor is in good physical condition and that I am or the Minor is able to participate in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital without harm to the Minor or others. I agree to voluntarily assume all risks, known or unknown, of injuries, however caused to me or the Minor, even if caused in whole or in part by the action, inaction or negligence of the host or collaborating partners, sponsor, individual and groups involved in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital, and to hold hosts or collaborating partners, sponsor, individual and groups involved in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital free and harmless from any liability or damages for any injuries that I or the Minor may sustain.

    By checking YES above, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Term and Condition. By checking YES above and submitting this online form, you acknowledge that you are the parent/legal guardian of the child participant (“Minor”).

    The Minor’s information is only used in connection with the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital and is limited to the information requested below. It is our practice to only obtain information regarding children under the age of 13 from the child’s parent or guardian and not from the child directly. The Minor’s parent or legal guardian must consent for the collection, use or disclosure of the information requested below. MTAC Santa Monica Bay will not share identifiable information of a child with any third party. MTAC Santa Monica Bay will only send our promotional communications or newsletters to the parent or the legal guardian who provided the child’s information to us, and MTAC Santa Monica Bay will not link, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties’ personally identifiable information for any child under the age of 13. If the parent or guardian does not give their consent within a reasonable time, MTAC Santa Monica Bay will delete the parent or guardian’s online contact information from our records.

    At any time you can review, change or delete your child's personal information, or revoke your parental consent by sending us an e-mail at admin@mtacsmbay.org. To protect your privacy and security, we may require you to speak with a representative or take additional steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information, make corrections, or disable your child’s registration.

    I understand that I, the legal guardian of the Minor indicated below, will provide the Minor’s necessary information in order to participate in the MTAC Santa Monica Bay Student Branch Recital.

    I consent to this practice. I understand that I may withdraw my permission granted herein. I also understand that it is important to provide accurate information in this consent form in case MTAC Santa Monica Bay needs to contact me for any reason.
