Oskaloosa Christian School exists to "assist families in equipping children to be effective disciples of Jesus Christ". As a covenant Christian school, we are committed to academic excellence rooted in a biblical worldview, meaningful relationships, and a shared dedication to nurturing the hearts, minds, and faith of our students.

We seek employees who not only demonstrate strong professional skills, but who also joyfully embrace the calling to integrate faith and learning, partner with families, and model Christ-centered living in and beyond the classroom. As a condition of employment with our school, a criminal background check is required for all personnel.

The school’s offer of employment will be automatically withdrawn and/or a contract will beterminated should any of the following statements be true:

1. Information discovered in the course of such a background check conflicts with statements you have made on your employment application documents
2. The check reveals you have been convicted of any offense involving sexual molestation, physical or sexual abuse, rape of a child, or any other felony that, in the school’s opinion, is related to the position for which you are applyingConviction of a drug offense or any offense involving violence may result in withdrawal.

Oskaloosa Christian School was founded by believers from area Reformed Churches, for the purpose of educating their children for Christian life and service. The Board of Directors and the Staff of Oskaloosa Christian School hold to the following Statement of Beliefs:

1. The Bible is the only inspired and infallible Word of God and is the ultimate source of truth and authority in all matters of our faith and life.
2. There is only one God, who is eternal and all-powerful, the Sovereign God of heaven and earth. He created the universe and everything in it and maintains sovereign control over all things. He exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. God created man, both male and female, in His image. This is what separates us from the animals and all other forms of life. However, our forefather Adam disobeyed God and, as our representative, brought sin and death to the entire human race. The result is that all humans are born sinful, are unable, on their own, to please God, and deserve death and eternal punishment. This means that every person needs renewal and restoration: we are in need of God’s grace.
4. Jesus Christ came to renew and restore. He is both fully God and fully man who died on the cross for our sins. All whom God called to believe in Him and repent have the forgiveness of sins and new life. This is possible because Jesus himself was raised from the dead. He ascended into heaven where He now rules as Lord. He will return
   to make all things new, judging all who have ever lived.
5. The right and responsibility to train children belong to parents, and Oskaloosa Christian School belongs to and depends on parents. At the foundation of our school is the unchangeable Word of God, interpreted according to reformed principles.
6. Oskaloosa Christian School helps students understand that God summons them to honest worship, moral discipline, personal holiness and that they must be equipped for meaningful service in the Kingdom of God.

In addition to the Statement of Beliefs, all employees must also agree with our Human Sexuality Policy:

• The term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.  (Genesis 2:22-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:5-9; Ephesians 5:31-33)
• God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other.  God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between any persons.  (Matthew 5:27-30; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20)
  
  1 Corinthians 7:2 “But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife and each woman with her own husband.”
  
  
• Any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexual conduct, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex (transgenderism), is sinful and offensive to God.  (Leviticus 18:1-30; Leviticus 20:10-21; Proverbs 5; Romans 1:26-27; Ephesians 5:3-7)

Jude 1:7 “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion.  They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.”

• In order to preserve the function and integrity of the Christian school, and to provide a biblical role model to the community, it is required that all persons employed by the school corporation in any capacity, as well as persons who serve as volunteers (School Board, Committees of the Board, etc.), agree with and abide by this Statement on Human Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.  Parents will take no actions exemplifying or promoting a position contrary to this policy statement (Romans 12:1-2).
• God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sins and seek His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, including the sins of sexual immorality delineated in this policy.  (Romans 6:22-23; Ephesians 2:1-10; Ephesians 5:1-2)
