  • The Virginia King Scholarship is awarded to underserved high school seniors who will be pursuing a post-secondary education.  

    This year the Charlottesville Chapter of The Links Incorporated is awarding multiple $1,000.00 scholarships to students attending a two-year or four-year college/university. Scholarship guidelines are described below.  Underserved college-bound seniors are encouraged to apply. 

    DEADLINE: All applications must be electronically submitted by 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Only complete applications will be accepted. Students selected to receive a  scholarship will be notified by Friday, March 20, 2026. 

  • Selection Criteria

    Each applicant is required to submit the following information: * A completed scholarship application * A 250 word essay * One letter of recommendation from personnel at your high school or a community member * A copy of your transcript that includes your high school G.P.A. * Personal achievements (ex. church, school, community and/or employment, etc.)
  • Applicant Information:

    Underserved high school seniors graduating by June 30, 2026. Scholarship recipients must provide their acceptance letter to a four-year college/university  or two-year college prior to receiving their financial award.

  • ESSAY GUIDELINES 


    Write a 250-word essay using 12-point, Times New Roman font. Your essay should be entitled “I’m on my way!” and describe your goals for the future. Please be specific.

    *How will this scholarship help you accomplish your goal?

    *Explain the importance of your interests in today’s society.

    Please submit a recommendation letter. Your recommender should be an adult who knows you well (for example, a coach, mentor, teacher, pastor, youth leader, etc.).
