  • HAUS Summer School Scholarship Application

    2026 International Summer School of German Language and Culture at Heidelberg University
  • Heidelberg Alumni U.S. (HAUS) is pleased to announce scholarships for the month-long International Summer School of German Language and Culture at Heidelberg University taking place in August 2026. This course allows you to improve your language skills at Germany’s oldest university with students from all over the world.

    The $1,000 stipend is available to qualified students in the United States. We are seeking candidates with strong academic backgrounds who can also fulfill the role of ambassador for HAUS upon their return from Heidelberg.

    Heidelberg boasts a world-class education and offers students an affordable and high quality of life in one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. The green hills of the Neckar Valley region boast a rich student life, including cultural events, sports, and year-round recreational activities, all within one hour of Frankfurt International Airport.

    Date: July 31 - August 27, 2026

    Admission requirements: 18 years or older - at the start of the course - and enrolled at a U.S. university or graduated from an institution of higher education in the U.S. 

    General Theme: Germany Between European Responsibility and Global Challenges

    Course levels: Elementary (including beginner), Intermediate, Advanced

    Courses: 20 hours per week in the morning, additional seminars/lectures in the afternoon

    Accommodations: Starting at around 450 Euro per room for the duration of the course

    Course fee: 910 Euro

    Note: Students currently enrolled at Heidelberg University are not eligible for the HAUS Scholarship.

  • HAUS Expectations for Scholarship Recipients:

    1. Successfully complete the summer school.
    2. Register with Heidelberg Alumni International (HAI) and HAUS while in Heidelberg.
    3. Provide a short report on your time in the International Summer School of German Language and Culture at Heidelberg University, including good-quality photos of yourself on campus or in town.
    4. Serve as an ambassador for HAUS and Heidelberg University upon completion of the course.
    5. Adhere to all federal and local public health and safety regulations.

    Short-listed candidates may be invited to participate in an oral interview.
