  • 2026 AIA CRAN Scholar Application

    The Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN®) will sponsor a 2026 CRAN Scholar. Scholarship recipients will be paired with a CRAN Advisory Group member who will connect with you before the next conference call to provide general information and support.
  • Who we are

    CRAN is an AIA Knowledge Community that develops knowledge and information to benefit architects who are engaged in, or who are interested in learning more about, custom residential practice. CRAN presents information and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and expertise to promote the professional development of its members via discussion forums, national symposia and conferences, publications, and local activities.

    Eligibility

    Applicants must be:

    • A current student or recent graduate (within 5 years) or (graduated no later than December 2021).
    • Sincere interest in pursuing a career in residential architecture.
    • A leader in the student or emerging professional communities.
    • Willing to speak up and step up to opportunities.
  •  What scholars will receive

    • Valuable exposure and networking opportunities with residential practice leaders from across the country.
    • Opportunity to demonstrate their initiative, leadership, and communication skills to potential employers.
    • A stipend of $1,000 at the successful conclusion of the Scholarship.
    • Free registration to the 2026 CRAN Symposium including education sessions, sponsored meals, the special event and home tour.

    The Symposium will be held in person at The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio, TX from September 23-26, 2026. See the 2025 CRAN Symposium schedule at a glance for reference. CRAN will not cover other expenses related to attending the Symposium such as travel or accommodations.

     What we ask in return

    Scholar will be responsible for the following:

    • Attending six (6) monthly 1-hour conference calls at Noon Eastern time on the third Wednesday of each month
    • Participating in one or more CRAN subcommittees (symposium, marketing, chapter engagement, education, emerging professionals)
    • Attending the 2026 CRAN Symposium in San Antonio, TX  and participating in symposium activities.
  • Application requirements

    Scholarship candidates must complete and submit this form including uploading, in one pdf file, the following materials by 5:00pm ET, Friday, March 27th.

    • One-page resume: including an overview of your academic and professional experience.
    • Letter of interest: outlining why you are interested, what you hope to contribute, and how your personal qualities and experience will support the program goals.
    • Contact information: be sure to include your name, school address, phone number, and personal e-mail address.
