Native Plant Cost-Share Application
Program Description
The Lake County Conservation District is offering a cost-share reimbursement program to assist with the purchase of native plants for new or existing native plant gardens. The goal of the program is to reduce the financial barriers for establishing/expanding Native Plants gardens, diversify the areas in Lake County that contain such gardens, and increase the demand for these plants in local nurseries. A minimum of 2 plants must be purchased and planted to be eligible**

A reimbursement check will be mailed to your address once we recieve and approve your application, proof of payment and plants purchased, and a before and after photo(s) of your site. LCCD will reimburse 50% of the total cost of the plants, up to $75. Proof of payment can include an invoice or reciept from a Montana nursery that clearly shows which native plants were purchased.

Program Instructions
- Applications must be submitted within 30 days of plant purchase to be considered.
- PLEASE NOTE: Native plants establish most successfully in spring and fall. Please avoid planting during peak summer heat (generally, late June–early September) and winter freeze conditions (November–March). To ensure planting occurs during these recommended windows, applications will not be approved for plantings made during off-season months.
- Reimbursements will be approved as they are recieved for as long as funds are available.
- Only plants native to Western Montana will be eligible for reimbursement. Soil, mulch, and other gardening materials are not eligible.
- Native plants may be purchased from any nursery in Lake County or surrounding counties. Need a place to start? Click HERE for local recommendations
