The following outlines the scholarship expectations of the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) Board of Trustees for the TVMF Philanthropy Scholarship.
QUALIFICATIONS
TVMF’s Philanthropy Scholarship recognizes a second or third-year student at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (TAMU-VMBS) and a second or third-year student at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU-SVM) who have been engaged in philanthropic activities and have demonstrated leadership by supporting or starting a charitable program.

Amount: $2,000
Award(s): 2, one per veterinary school
DISTRIBUTION
The scholarship recipient will be announced at the TVMA Annual Conference and may be featured in TVMF publications and/or on social media.
The scholarship will be given via check to the University's Foundation and applied to the student’s school account.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Currently engages in efforts that have improved/are improving a community.
- Inspires others to participate in charitable activities or fosters a culture of philanthropy.
- Dedicates significant time, energy, and/or creativity to a charitable organization.
The work may involve caring for animals, advancing the veterinary profession, or serving people.
- The work may be of a local, national, or international nature. However, special consideration should be given to efforts within the State of Texas.
- Minimum 2.5 College of Veterinary Medicine school cumulative GPA
- Two letters of recommendation

In 1,000 words or less, please include the following:
- What difference have you made in your community?
- What motivation drives your volunteer work?
- Your role as a volunteer with emphasis on any leadership positions you’ve had in what time frame?
- Description of your ongoing efforts

- What plans do you have for the future regarding philanthropy?
- Share an inspirational story or anecdotal information
- Explain your ongoing activities and overall efforts
- Address how you have been an advocate for your organization
- Include how you have encouraged philanthropy in others
- Describe the long-term impact, in the next 3-5 years, of your work
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The annual scholarship was established by TVMF’s Board of Trustees with a goal to promote and encourage philanthropy within the field of veterinary medicine. TVMF provides this scholarship on an annual basis thanks to generous members of Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA).
