The following outlines the scholarship expectations of the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) Board of Trustees for the Dr. John D. McCarroll Memorial Scholarship.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Dr. John McCarroll Memorial Scholarship shall support deserving veterinary students pursuing careers in equine veterinary medicine at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (TAMU-VMBS) and Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU-SVM).
Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in equine medicine through academic coursework, extracurricular involvement, veterinary experience, research, internships, leadership, or career goals related to the equine industry and veterinary profession.

DISTRIBUTION
The scholarship recipient will be announced at the TVMA Annual Conference and may be featured in TVMF publications and/or on social media.
The scholarship will be given via check to the University's Foundation and applied to the student’s school account.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Demonstrates a sincere commitment to equine veterinary medicine
- Participates in equine-related extracurricular activities, organizations, internships, externships, or volunteer service
- Exhibits professionalism, leadership, and dedication to the veterinary profession
- Shows interest in advancing equine health, welfare, education, or client service
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients, peers, and mentors
- Preference may be given to applicants with ties to the Texas equine industry or intent to practice in Texas
- Minimum 2.5 veterinary school cumulative GPA
- Letter(s) of recommendation

Established by his family and friends, the scholarship reflects Dr. McCarroll’s dedication to clinical excellence, lifelong learning, and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians.
