The following outlines the scholarship expectations of the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) Board of Trustees for the Dr. Eve Gerome Memorial Scholarship.
QUALIFICATIONS
TVMF’s Dr. Eve Gerome Memorial Scholarship shall support deserving students from rural counties or areas at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (TAMU-VMBS) and Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU-SVM).

Amount: $2,000
Award(s): 2, one per veterinary school
DISTRIBUTION
The scholarship recipient will be announced at the TVMA Annual Conference and may be featured in TVMF publications and/or on social media.
The scholarship will be given via check to the University's Foundation and applied to the student’s school account.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Recipient is from a rural county or area
- Minimum 2.5 veterinary school cumulative GPA
- Two letters of recommendation
- Letter from the Dean's office verifying academic eligibility
- Essay application

In 1,000 words or less, please include the following:
- Description of your upbringing in a rural county or area
- How a rural community has shaped you personally, professionally, etc.
- Current interests and extra-curricular activities
- Career goals and aspirations
- Brief statement of financial need
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship in memory of Eve Gerome, DVM, will provide invaluable support to deserving students from rural areas pursuing their dreams of becoming veterinarians in an extension of her life and legacy. A graduate of the Class of 1985, Dr. Gerome is highly respected and known for her earnest compassion for both animals and people. She practiced in Fannin County, where she became a pillar of the community and caretaker of everyone’s four-legged friends. Dr. Gerome was very dedicated to mentoring young veterinarians and students.
