  • Travel Bursary

  • Please submit the information below in order to be considered for a travel bursary award to attend the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists in Cairo, Egypt from May 1-2, 2026.

    In order to be eligible to receive a bursary, you must reside within the MDS African Section.

  • By submitting this application, you acknowledge and agree to the following statements: 

    1. Assumption of Risk and Liability:
    Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense, of any kind, that they may experience or incur in connection with attending the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists.

    The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society’s African Section (MDS-AS) has taken preventative measures to reduce the spread of communicable disease including, but not limited to COVID-19 (“Communicable Disease”) at the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists. However, MDS cannot guarantee that attendees will not be exposed to or contract a Communicable Disease at the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists. Further, due to the nature of the facilities, services and programs offered at the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists, participants understand that attending the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists could increase their risk of contracting a Communicable Disease.

    Attendee agrees to abide by all applicable COVID-19-related requirements, advisories, policies, procedures, and protocols of the hotel and MDS-AS as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the city of Cairo, the Country of Egypt, and any other governmental authority for the duration of their stay.

    Attendee understands the risk that they may be exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease by attending the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists and that such exposure or infection may result in quarantine requirements, serious illness, permanent disability and/or death. Attendee further understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease at the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists may result from the actions, omissions or negligence of themselves and others, including, but not limited to, MDS-AS, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, representatives, sponsors, other participants, and any owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists (“Releasees”). ATTENDEE KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUMES ALL SUCH RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, and assumes full responsibility for their participation in the MDS-AS School for Young Neurologists.

     

    2. Travel Requirements: Attendee understands the travel requirements to enter & exit Egypt and exit & re-entry to home country.

  • Visa Statement: MDS is able to provide participants with a Letter of Support and any course-related documentation needed to assist in obtaining a visa. Please note that MDS is unable to contact the Embassy on your behalf. It is the responsibility of each participant to make the necessary arrangements related to this process.

  • You will be notified approximately 2-3 weeks following the application deadline.
