• Dear SGA President or Vice President Applicants,

We are excited about your interest in running on the Student Government Association (SGA) President/Vice President ticket. The SGA President and Vice President are elected by the student body during the SGA election in early March.

The purpose of this application is to (1) indicate your interest in the position and (2) allow the Student Involvement Office to confirm that you and your running mate meet the eligibility requirements to run for the President/Vice President ticket. After completion and submission of this form, you will be notified by the SGA Election Committee whether you and your running partner are eligible to be added to the SGA election ballot.

Please read this document carefully and respond to each question in full.

    The Purpose of SGA

The Student Government Association's aim is to further the educational, spiritual, and relational development of the Wheaton College community as elected servant leaders representing student initiative, concern, creativity, and enthusiasm. The Student Government Association is the primary vehicle for all Wheaton students to get involved with the governance of the college.

Under the leadership of the elected President and Vice President, next year’s Executive Board will consist of 6 positions: Secretary of Academic Affairs, Secretary of College Life, Secretary of Community Diversity, Secretary of Sustainability and Operations, Secretary of Student Wellness, and Secretary of Global Engagement. The Public Relations Manager, Business Manager, Administrative Manager, and elected senators also make up SGA.  The executive board positions will be filled through interviews and selection by the elected SGA President and Vice President.

SGA President and Vice President candidates apply together as one ticket; however, each candidate completes this application separately. Later in this form, you will be asked to indicate the position you are applying for and to provide your ticket name. Your ticket name should include both you and your running mate’s last names.

All information received, both in your application and from references, is kept private. The application consists of the application form and two references (one from a faculty or staff member and one from a peer). Send your references this form (open, and then copy and paste for your references). Applications are due on March 3rd.

If you have any questions regarding this application process, please feel free to contact us; we would love to talk with you.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Crystal Cartwright-Braziel
    SGA Advisor, Student Involvement, Director

I understand that signing this authorization is voluntary, and that refusing to sign this form does not prevent disclosure of information otherwise permitted by Federal law (FERPA), with or without my specific authorization, consent, or permission.

This authorization will remain active for 12 months from the date of signing. I understand that I may revoke this authorization at any time by contacting student.engagement@wheaton.edu.
