  • Coaching Expectations

    • Support the organization at all times
    • Be the example.
    • Follow all organization and league rules
    • Follow PJP/SYF by-laws
    • Be respectful to each other as well as SYF employees (this includes refs at games and judges at qualifier/competition)
    • Be positive and supportive, for some players we are the only positive people and structure they will come in contact with.
    • Conduct yourself with professionalism at all times, this includes on social media); we are the face of the program.
    • Be able to communicate with the board, other coaches, players and parents.
    • If there is an issue you do not have an answer for or is bigger than you feel is in your scope please address the board.
    • You must let the president and your other coaching staff know when you will not be able to attend an event, such as a game, so there is ample time for a replacement or know if a head coach is missing where things should be filled in.
    • All problems are our problems
    • The president and vp need to be made aware of issues, even if we are not on our home field.
    • Make yourself available and approachable to parents and others for issues and questions. Parents should be comfortable using the chain of command and able to go to coaches before the board has to address issues.
  • Coaching Commitments (underlined items are required by head coaches to participate)

    • Recruitment - expected to help in team recruitment through networking and advertisement, spread the word PJP is where to play football and Cheer
    • Team/program events, pre-season camp events and training days, photo day, awards night.
    • Welcome BBQ, this is when a lot of the players get to meet their coaches and start bonding with their teammates.
    • Practices run Monday-Friday 6pm-8pm prior to school starting. Once school starts practice goes to Tuesday-Thursday6pm-8pm. (once cheer is closer to qualifier and competition, we are permitted to add extra practice sessions)
    • When adding extra practice for cheer, the cheer coordinator needs to be informed, all practice must have at least one board member present.
    • It is the coach's responsibility to arrive in ample time for practice to be able to fill the water jugs at the bin, the tools to do this can be found with a board member.
    • Any adjustments or variations to the uniform, this includes breast cancer socks for October, need to be approved by the board prior to being implemented.
    • Breast cancer awareness changes for October need to be presented to the board by September 1st to give ample time for approval, order and delivery.
    • For cheer all music should be approved by the cheer coordinator/assistant cheer coordinator prior to using.
    • Coaches and team moms should not be handling any cash transactions for program related purchases.
  • Coaching Selections

    • Head Coaches will be discussed and decided on by the current board
    • - All head coaches are expected to bring sufficient and experienced support coaching staff (2-3 additional coaches)
    • - Parent volunteer coaches are expected to be able to participate as support roles. These are potential future coaches for our program, we should encourage participation.
    • - All assistant and parent coaches will be vetted by the board prior to acceptance to the team.
    • - Head coach is responsible for controlling their sidelines, designating one assistant coach for repairs, waters and team needs. Recruiting a team mascot is encouraged.
