  • About Dr. Jennifer E. Taylor

    Dr. Jennifer E. Taylor was a caring and dedicated pharmacist who served numerous communities across the state of Mississippi. She received her education through the Jackson Public Schools system, continued her academic journey at Jackson State University, and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University. Dr. Taylor’s commitment to learning did not end with her formal education; she remained a lifelong learner, constantly seeking new knowledge through books, travel, and adventures that took her around the globe.

    Commitment to Education

    Dr. Taylor truly embodied the spirit of lifelong learning and was a passionate advocate for education. She encouraged those around her, including members of her own family and individuals she met throughout her professional career, to pursue education and to develop a love for learning. Her enthusiasm for education inspired many to follow in her footsteps and strive for personal and academic growth.

    Scholarship Purpose 

    This scholarship has been established to honor Dr. Taylor’s legacy and to support individuals who are pursuing higher education with the same passion and vigor that she demonstrated throughout her life. It is intended for those who, like Dr. Taylor, value education and are committed to achieving their own professional goals. 

  • SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

  • Who’s Eligible?

    Applicants must be a rising college sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited two or four year college or university. The program of study must lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree.

    All applicants must be current members of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

    Annual Scholarship Award

    This is an annual scholarship, and applicants can apply each year after their freshman year.

    How Are Recipients Selected?

    All applications and supporting documents are reviewed by the family of Dr. Jennifer E. Taylor. Recommendations for awards will be based on how well applicants meet the following criteria:

    • Completed Online Application (following instructions, accuracy, etc.)
    • Essay written by the applicant
    • College Transcript to show student is in good standing and progressing towards a degree

    How Do I Apply?

    • Logon to the church website and complete the online scholarship application.
    • Click on the following link:  http://www.newmtzionchurch.org/scholarships.html
    • Complete all sections of the application and provide supporting documents no later than May 15, 2026.
    • Late packets will not be considered.

    When Will I Know?

    Recipients will be notified in writing by May 31, 2026.

    How Much Will Be Awarded?

    One $2000 scholarship will be awarded to the top applicant.

    How Are Scholarships Issued?

    Scholarship checks will be made payable to the institution.

  • Please complete the online scholarship application by May 15, 2026.  It is your responsibility to make sure that the application is complete, accurate and that all supporting documents are entered and received by the deadline.  Hardcopy applications or documents will not be accepted.

    Please review the online application in its entirety and prepare your supporting documents (college transcript and essay) in advance for upload.  Once you submit your application, you will not be able to go back and retrieve a copy of your submitted form for update.  You may only submit your application once.
