Bluegrass Camp is where students ages 10 to 18 will learn to play as a traditional bluegrass band made up of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobro and bass.
Students will be assigned to a band for the week. There will be individual instrumental lessons, group/band instruction, workshops, vocal lessons, evening jams and an evening of square dance. Song writing workshops will be available this year and are inlcuded in the camp fee.
The days start at 9:00 am. After dinner is time to participate in jams or square dancing and usually lasts until 9:00 pm. It is optional if younger students need to get some rest.
Parents are welcome: all day and are welcome to participate in the evening jams and square dance at any of the camps!
Passing it on: This philosophy is a core value of OMMA. As students learn, we encourage them to pass on what they know and be an encouragement to others. Many of our experienced students are very capable teachers. Volunteer instructors can make their time available for students who want additional training.
Cost of Branson camp: $550, includes t-shirt, meals, lessons, coaching & snacks. No lodging.
Cost of Jr Bluegrass camp: $250 includes t-shirt, group & individual lessons every day. 9:00 to 11:30.
