  • General Info

Thank you for being involved with our soft archery programme, we are now coming towards our 5th championships to bring all our participating local authorities together, returning after last year's event.

We are hosting the 5th Soft Archery Championships on Thursday 14th May at:

    Lornshill Academy

    Tullibody Rd,

    Alloa, Clackmannanshire

    FK10 2ES

We are looking for participants to arrive no later than 10am (ideally between 9.30am and 10am) and we aim to be leaving again by 2pm.

The competition will be grouped into 2 age brackets: P4/5 and P6/7

The competition is FREE to enter

Closing date for entries is Wednesday 6th May.

How many people in a team?

Teams of 3 looking at head to head matches against other schools. Teams can be mixed gender or single sex.

    What is the rough format?

We are looking at a qualification round with a cumulative score, moving into groups based on finishing positions in qualifying round.  Time is tight so we won’t have time for practice shots, we will go straight into the team matches.

Targets will be set at 5m for P4/5 and 7m for P6/7 (for comparison a badminton court is 13.4m long).

Any guidance for choosing a team?

Ideally selecting from those attending an extra-curricular school club would be great as they will have the opportunity to practice before the event. Scores aren’t everything as well, selecting a team based on good attitudes can create a very positive environment.

A knowledge of how the bow works and basic safety rules would be an advantage to save explaining things in depth on the day. We will have helpers on hand to assist where necessary though.

Do we need to bring anything?

We need teams to bring one target per team, one bow, six arrows and one arm guard per person.  Pupils and Staff should come with a packed lunch and drinks for the day, there won’t be a formal lunchtime but there will be change over time between matches where children can eat something and have a drink.

How do I enter my teams?

If you collate all the information for each team and fill out the entry form on the next page and send it to us prior to the closing date (2nd May) then the teams will be entered.

Can I have extra team slots?

If a Local Authority doesn’t take all their slots then additional team slots will be offered out.  Please mark them on the form below as reserved slots.

    Transport to the event

We would encourage schools to share transport where possible, meeting and leaving from a central point within each Local Authority would allow transport costs to be shared.
