  • APPLICATIONS- AIFA Residency: Symposium on Censorship

  • For this year's residency, we are inviting up to 20 fine arts students to join us in a student’s symposium on Censorship in the Arts.

We encourage you to submit a wide range of projects:
Performance art, physical art, video work, book arts, protest material.
Organize a workshop or panel? Read off a poem or essay you’ve written? Present a zine you’ve made or will make? Show off an archive you’ve been working on? Teach people something?

As you navigate your project proposal, some possible considerations include:
How do you navigate censorship at Concordia and in the broader Montreal arts community?
How can we resist and intervene in these forces?
What tactics have you taken up to resist the control of discourse?
Are there networks or communities you wish to honour?

We want to see collaboration, criticality, and honesty. Most importantly, we want to give the Fine Arts student body a space to come together, speak honestly, and share knowledge and tactics.

    Technical details:

This residency is only open to undergraduate Fine Arts majors.
Applicants can apply as individuals or within groups.

The selected works/projects will come together for an evening of discussion, artwork, and community building in early April.

Financial compensation depends on the number of participants.

    Submission Deadline: February 13th
