CLIENT ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT
This agreement must be reviewed and signed before Clarity Tax CO can begin providing services.
Thank you for choosing Clarity Tax CO This document outlines the terms, responsibilities, and expectations governing our professional relationship. By completing and submitting this intake form, you formally engage Clarity Tax CO to prepare your federal and/or state income tax returns for the current tax year and any prior years you have selected.
Please read this agreement carefully before signing.
1. Engagement & Scope of Services
Submission of this intake form constitutes your formal request for Clarity Tax CO to begin tax preparation services. Upon submission:
- Your file is opened within our system.
- A tax professional is assigned to your case.
- Internal work begins immediately, including reviewing your intake answers,
- verifying identity and documentation, and preparing your tax return.
- This engagement does not include financial planning, bookkeeping, legal representation, or IRS audit representation unless separately contracted.
2. Retraction Policy
Once your return has been prepared, reviewed, and completed by your tax professional, you are responsible for the work performed—regardless of whether you ultimately choose to file with us.
If you decide not to file your tax return through Clarity Tax CO after preparation has been completed, a $150 Retraction Fee will be assessed. This fee covers the time, labor, and expertise expended in:
- Reviewing your intake
- Verifying your documents
- Calculating income, credits, and deductions
- Preparing your tax return
- Providing professional consultation during the process
- This fee is mandatory and will be invoiced directly if you withdraw after completion.
Submitting your personal information and initiating the preparation process with multiple tax companies simultaneously is strongly discouraged. Doing so increases the risk of identity theft, causes inconsistencies in IRS data, and undermines our ability to protect the integrity of your tax return. As a professional firm, we expect our clients to engage in good faith.
3. Estimates and Consultations
This intake form is intended exclusively for clients who are ready to begin actual tax preparation.
If you are only seeking an estimate or quote, please do not complete this form.
Instead, return to our website to schedule a free consultation with a licensed tax professional. Consultations allow us to provide preliminary estimates based on the documentation you currently have available.
4. Refund Advance Loans (RALs) and Application Fee
If you choose to apply for a Refund Advance Loan through our partner bank, Refund Advantage:
A non-refundable $50 application fee will be assessed, regardless of loan approval.
Approval is determined solely by the issuing bank—not by Clarity Tax CO
If approved, the loan amount will be issued by SBTPG and repaid from your federal refund.
If denied, the $50 fee remains non-refundable.
Refund advances are optional. If you do not wish to apply, you may decline this option within the intake form.
5. Client Responsibilities
To ensure accurate tax preparation, you agree to:
- Provide full, truthful, and complete information.
- Upload all required documents—including identification, Social Security verification, W-2s, 1099s, income statements, and proof of credits/deductions—into your secure client portal in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to any questions or requests for clarification from your tax professional.
Failure to provide complete documentation may delay preparation or affect the accuracy of your return.
You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for reviewing the final return before signing.
6. No Refund Guarantees
Clarity Tax CO does not guarantee specific refund amounts, “maximum refunds,” or comparisons to other companies’ estimates.
Your refund or balance due is determined entirely by the:
- Income you earned
- Credits and deductions you qualify for
- IRS and State tax laws applicable to your filing year
Our responsibility is to prepare your return accurately and to apply all eligible credits and deductions permitted by law.
7. Fees, Billing, and Release of Tax Returns
All preparation fees are due and payable upon completion of your tax return and prior to release of any documents.
It is firm policy not to release any portion of your tax return, schedules, worksheets, or tax-related documents until payment has been made in full, unless your filing fees are being paid from your refund through our bank product.
If services are rendered and payment is not received, Clarity Tax CO reserves the right to pursue any lawful means of collection. You may be responsible for additional legal fees, collection costs, or administrative charges associated with securing payment.
Fee estimates may be provided when requested; however, circumstances may arise during preparation that increase or decrease the final amount. You will be notified of any significant changes.
8. Acknowledgment and Agreement
By signing below, you confirm that:
- You have read and understand this Client Engagement Agreement.
- You agree to the terms outlined herein.
- You understand that submitting this intake form engages Clarity Tax CO for tax preparation services.
- You agree to pay the $150 Retraction Fee if you choose not to file after your return has been completed.
- You understand that incomplete or inaccurate information may result in delays, errors, or changes to your refund or balance due.
- You accept full responsibility for the information you provide and for reviewing the final return before signing.
