• AWL CLE Program Proposal Form

  • AWL hosts a virtual CLE each month, typically held from 12:00–12:50 PM, and proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis for future scheduling.

Submissions should include details about the proposed topic, learning objectives, and speaker qualifications to support CLE accreditation requirements and program planning. AWL welcomes proposals that are timely, practical, and engaging, and that support attorney competence, ethics, professionalism, and the evolving needs of the legal community.

Please note that CLE presentations are educational in nature and are not an opportunity to promote individual firms, services, or products. While presenters gain professional visibility through thought leadership and subject-matter expertise, all content must remain non-commercial and focused on learning.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to AWL’s educational programming and supporting the professional growth of our members.

  • Program Overview & Accreditation

  • If you are presenting Ethics, Professionalism, or Elimination of Bias credit:

To qualify for Ethics, Professionalism, or Elimination of Bias credit, a session must be clearly focused on the applicable subject matter and designated on the agenda. Ethics or bias content that is only briefly referenced within another topic (such as substantive law or litigation strategy) does not meet the requirements for these credit types.

Ethics focuses on understanding and complying with the Kansas and Missouri Rules of Professional Conduct, which govern how attorneys must act to remain in good standing. Professionalism goes beyond the rules and includes how lawyers demonstrate civility, honesty, integrity, fairness, competence, respect for others, and a commitment to public service and the legal system. Professionalism also includes attention to lawyer well-being and the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the profession.

Programs may qualify for Professionalism credit when they address topics such as mental health, substance abuse, mindfulness, work-life balance, and other issues that impact attorney well-being, as long as the content is designed for an attorney audience and directly relates to the practice of law.

Programs seeking Elimination of Bias credit must be specifically focused on recognizing and addressing bias within the legal profession. This includes topics such as implicit bias, cultural competency, diversity and inclusion, and strategies to promote fairness and equity in legal practice, the courts, and the profession as a whole.

In short, these CLE categories are designed to strengthen attorneys’ understanding of their professional responsibilities, elevate standards of conduct, support well-being, promote inclusion and fairness, and reinforce the integrity and values of the legal profession.
