The BBYO Eastern Canada Board of Directors serves as the organization’s governing body and is composed of Jewish philanthropists, community leaders, BBYO alumni, and other dedicated lay leaders. Board members share a deep commitment to Jewish youth and to cultivating the next generation of Jewish leadership. They play an important role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction and supporting its continued growth and impact.
The volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for helping set organizational policies, supporting fundraising efforts, approving partnerships with other agencies, and establishing committees or task forces to advance the organization’s work.
As BBYO Eastern Canada continues to grow, we are currently seeking 2-4 new Board members with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising – Donor cultivation, campaigns, stewardship, and resource development
- Marketing & Communications – Brand strategy, digital engagement, outreach, and storytelling
- Legal – Governance, compliance, contracts, and risk management
- Finance – Budgeting, financial oversight, audit review, and long-term planning
- Human Resources – Employment practices, organizational development, and talent management
- Policy / Government & Jewish Community Relations – Advocacy, partnerships, and community relations
- Event Planning & Alumni Engagement – Community events, alumni relations, and stakeholder engagement

Each Director is expected to:
- Act honestly, in good faith, and in the best interests of the organization
- Maintain confidentiality and disclose any conflicts of interest
- Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in Board meetings
- Serve on at least one Board committee (e.g. Finance, Fundraising, Alumni Engagement, Strategic Planning)
- Attend key BBYO programs and community engagement events
- Make a meaningful annual financial contribution of at least $500
- Support the organization through advocacy, connections, and leadership
