Celebrate March 3, Girls Day with folded paper dolls.
On the third day of the third month, Girls Day, the aristocracy in ancient Japan would set up in their homes, a display of elaborately clothed dolls replicating the imperial court. Resourceful commoners celebrated with dolls made out of paper.
The class participants will fashion with decorated paper (wash or chiyogami) girl and boy paper dolls.
You will discover several ways to show off your Ningyo dolls— on a card, a gift tag or decorate an Uchiwa fan.
