Nominees will comply with any decisions made by the AIMS Board in relation to the nomination and judging of the awards. The nominee meets the eligibility requirements and has addressed all the selection criteria for the nominated category. By entering the awards, award winners and nominees agree to their photograph and proﬁles being used for promotional purposes by AIMS.

The award for Technology or Business Services is open to all organisations, partnerships, sole traders, and individuals who are registered to operate in Australia. AIMS membership is not a prerequisite for this category.

Technology or Business Services Award

Small businesses/individualsMedium/Large businesses/individuals
This award is open to both members and non-members and congratulates leadership through the practical application of technological solutions for new and existing marine survey needs resulting in a commercial, environmental and/or social benefit to the industry. It may also recognise a corporate / commercial partner or Industry Consultant working with marine surveyors to develop projects, developments or services that result in measurable improvements and positively contribute to elevate the marine survey industry in any capacity. The award is open to insurers, lawyers, business agents, shipping agents, bankers / financiers, risk managers, recruiters, training organisations, or any organisation that has capitalised on an opportunity or gap in the market and acted to further or simplify the business practices of marine surveyors. Nominees should demonstrate that they have a strong vision for the industry and the honour will be awarded to organisations that are making a positive impact on our industry. The award will be split into a 'Small businesses/individuals' section and 'Medium/Large businesses/individuals' sections.
Criteria 1. Provide an overview of the product or service, why it was developed and how it has been implemented. Also provide an explanation of what barriers and challenges were faced and how they were overcome. (300 words maximum)
Criteria 2. How has the practical application of the technological solution, business service or product furthered or simpliﬁed the business practices of marine surveyors and/or how has the technological solution, business service or product resulted in a commercial, environmental and/or social beneﬁt to the industry or positively contributed to the marine survey industry in any capacity and/or how the product or service actively supported the industry including identiﬁcation of best practice methodologies? (500 words maximum)
Judging

The judging panel for each category is made up of members from the Board and Fellow members who have expressed an interest in participating in evaluating the nominations.

All judges are commited to evaluating nominations strictly against the selection criteria. No conﬂict of interest is allowed and where a conﬂict of interest is identiﬁed the panel member must step down.

In that instance the CEO will seek a replacement judge from the body of full members with priority to long serving members.
