  • The Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated is pleased to announce the 2026 Scholarship Application process. You are invited to apply for funds to be used to defray educational costs during the 2026-2027 academic year.

    Applications can only be accepted from graduating seniors attending a Richmond or Burke County (Georgia) high school. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority family members cannot apply for this scholarship.

     

    The application and all documents must be received no later than 11:30 p.m. March 16, 2026.

    1. Application (completed and signed by applicant and parent/guardian)

    2. Transcript (signed by designated school official)

    3. Personal Statement

    4. Essay (500 words minimum typed)

    5. Two Letters of Recommendation (on school letterhead/letterhead)

  • All applicants will be notified in writing on or before April 7, 2026 of selection results. To receive the financial award, recipients must provide their student ID number, official verification of enrollment at the accredited institution (from registrar, business office, advisement), and a current class schedule. The award check will be mailed directly to the college/university financial aid office and payable to the student. Your student ID number must be included on the check.

    All scholarship recipients (or delegate) are required to attend the S.T.A.R.S. (Service, Talent, Academics Recognition Showcase) program on April 26, 2026.

  • A.  NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP

    • Academic Achievement - Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • Financial Need - Based on Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Recognition and Awards (Academic Honors and Non-Academic Awards)
    • Extracurricular Activities and Volunteer Service - involvement in school clubs and community organizations with focus on service to others Leadership Qualities (school and community) - leadership positions held in school clubs and community organizations
    • Two Recommendations - One letter of recommendation must be from a school official (teacher, principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, or coach) on school letterhead. Recommendations cannot be from relatives or friends.
    • Personal Statement - Addressing financial need-family hardship and obstacles
    • A typed essay, 500 words minimum, on one of the following topics: 
    1. What do you consider to be the one most important societal problem and why?
    2. What three things would you do to change your community for the better and why?
    3. What life experience will help you shape your goals?
  • B.  LOUISE A. RICE SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

    • Academic Achievement - Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • Recognition and Awards (Academic Honors and Non-Academic Awards)
    • Extracurricular Activities and Volunteer Service - involvement in school clubs and community organizations with focus on service to others
    • Leadership Qualities (school and community) - leadership positions held in school clubs and community organizations
    • Two Recommendations - One letter of recommendation must be from a school official (teacher, principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, or coach) on school letterhead. Recommendations cannot be from relatives or friends.
    • Personal statement - Addressing how community service has impacted your outlook of the community
    • A typed essay, 500 words minimum, on one of the following topics:
    1. State the benefits of community service and how it has affected your character and service-oriented qualities.
    2. What have you learned during your service project(s) and how has it changed the community?
    3. What do you consider to be the one most important social problem and why?
    4. What three things would you do to change your community for the better and why?

  • Submissions must include the typed application form, typed personal statement, typed essay, official high school transcript (must include the signature of school official), FAFSA (need-based only), and two letters of recommendation. Only complete submissions will be considered. All documents must include the student's name.

    I understand and agree that if selected as a recipient of this scholarship, funds will be sent directly to the indicated college/university when documentation of enrollment is provided, and that my consent is given to the Augusta Alumnae Chapter to publicize my image/photograph taken at awards and honor programs.
