Scottish Fencing is hosting Sabre Referee Training on Saturday 7th February 2026 at Salle Ossian Fencing Club. This will take place from 1pm to 5pm. There is also an opportunity for anyone attending the training on the Saturday to come along to the Central Region BYC qualifier on Sunday 8th February 2026 to undertake their practical assessment.
This course is delivered by Sam McLellan, FIE Sabre and Foil referee, and member of the EFC and FIE Master Lists!
As part of this course as well, we are offering a hybrid option to other people from across the British fencing community. A meeting link for zoom will be sent prior to the 7th if this option is selected.
On the day you will need the following:
- SF/BF Membership Number
- Something to take notes on
- An electronic device (ideally with a camera) to take the exam on
- Candidates should familiarise themselves with the FIE Technical Rulebooks and 'Article t.170, Offences and Penalties' which can be found via https://fie.org/fie/documents/rules
